  1. I would imaging part of the reason defaults were lower was people didn't have the same "credit card culture" as we do today and didn't have the need for expensive luxuries like brand new iPhones etc. so less likely to get into debt and less likely to miss a payment on their mortgage. It would be a brave bank that offered 110% mortgages to today's society..
  2. Because the banks need something to reposess when the borrower failes to keep up with mortgage payments. They are not there to help people out, they are in business to make money. The banks don't care if youre renting or paying a mortgage. In fact it's in the bank's interested that more people rent becaue then more landlords would buy property, and pay the over inflated interest on buy to let mortgages rather than the low interest rates on residential mortgages.
  3. The wharf is rubbish for nightlife. It's too windy there too. Better off in "the city" where you can find a range of places to drink from little old historical pubs, fancy bars or nightclubs open until the small hours with Soho and shorditch a short cab ride away.. These days I stick to the older style pubs, but even those have a lively atmosphere with everyone enjoying a beer and chatting to each other.
  4. I've worked in London for the last 12 or so years. Used to live there but moved out to get a house with a garden. I genuinely wouldn't want to work anywhere else! The people are great and there's always someone up for a pint or two after work and nobody ever says "I can't have a beer becaue I'm driving". I'm currently taking time off between contracts to help out with my new baby boy and genuinely missing the city.. I think what tourists see of London is very different to what people who work there see, and the majority of the tourists don't even get close to the financial district so don't see how great it is.
  5. they have to pass through a very dangerous zone that most people dont even realise they are doing. Take two sets of people in identical circumstances. One has a 95% mortgage, the other has paid a load off and only has a 20% mortgage.. They both lose their jobs and cant pay... guess who the banks will repossess first?? its a lot easier to sell a house and recover a 20% debt - not so easy to sell a house and recover a 95% debt, especially after the occupiers have trashed the place because they are bitter its being repossessed. so, be warned people, if you have high equity in your property and you fall on hard times, the banks wont hesitate in taking your house away...
  6. Turn your boiler temp right down so the hot tap is just luke warm
  7. a non-working model of an electric motorbike based on a petrol powered donor bike... so basically a petrol bike with its engine removed??
  8. Many people use white lithium based lube for chains. As said above it might attract too much dirt but if you clean your chain regularly and it doesn't fling off, I reckon it will be fine.
  9. Worth a try!! Don't throw it out, try some on the chain and see if it doesn't all fling off.
  10. Or bung him a pack of 20 Regals [emoji23] Dont mess with the bad ass fag smoking chicken!!
  11. I've got an android watch that I was going to remove the strap from and fix to the bike as a small nav screen.. Good idea. Do it, do it, do it! Cheers. Yes I intend to when riding season starts again. It's small enough to hide away on the dash somewhere and can be used for music and displaying the name of people calling me etc so it's got many benefits. Also since it's got inbuilt accelerometers I was thinking of writing an app for measuring and displaying lean angle, acceleration and showing GPS speed... That's along way off though.
  12. As much security as you like, if they can't steal it, they just burn it... You don't mention any fire prevention devices
  13. I've got an android watch that I was going to remove the strap from and fix to the bike as a small nav screen..
  14. i went from Shoei to HJC - we must have the same shaped head!
  15. If you're using an Android device and you're logged in properly and have the option set to store login details enabled it should store your login details so when the logon screen pops up, all your details are already there. I access the forum almost exclusively from my android phone. The logon box pops up occasionally but I have no idea what my password is, as I don't need to know. Edit: go into browser settings ensure you're syncing to your Google account and that Autofill forms and Save passwords are both on - you will never need to enter your password again.
  16. You were holding him up... Ride faster!
  17. Mate of mines dad had a brain tumour so they took his UK licence away, but was able to keep his European licence and continue to drive... !!
  18. Abolish completely and you will reduce the number of people getting into bikes. Maybe make it only valid for 6months so people have the chance to try biking and if they like it sit the test.
  19. Sounds pretty reasonable no?
  20. I wish people would wake up and realise that FB is evil and that everything they post on FB just makes money for FB!
  21. Looks great fun! Total chaos Do you have a front mounted licence plate??
  22. If your CBT went fine, what makes you think you can't ride it home?? Man-up and ride it home
  23. Could take a punt on an LED bulb. Not sure they are strictly legal but they will throw out more light.
  24. Easy to drill the holes in a non-pinlock visor to make it accept a pinlock insert.
