    Shock question

It's not that simple. A shorter shock would also require a stiffer spring and would change the characteristics of the bike. New Dog bones are the best option.
  2. Bodge it!! Loads of JB weld and a drain valve.
  3. Yep, need to be careful, but slapping JB weld on the outside of the crack won't achieve much and will likely crack off with temperature changes. Since we're talking bodge jobs, loads of JB weld inside to bond the drain plug would do it.
  4. right, so lets talk about the best way to bodge it with JB weld... If it was me i would drill a small hole down the crack so i could pump the JBweld into clean metal and hope it oozed into both sides of the crack. Once thats set, i would grind a small V in the outside of the crack, fill that with JB weld and grind it back so its flush. Then JBWed the new oil drain plug into place - job done..
  5. He does I love Classics posts, probably for the wrong reasons . Same, you really couldn't make it up! how does one person get in so many tricky spots??
  6. Also, I assume you hand cranked it a few times to test for piston/valve collisions? Too late now after its been cranked by the starter motor.
  7. You always seem to get in situations like this! Check the basics, spark, fuel, then see where you stand.
  8. Lol, the public shouldn't be trusted with torque wrenches!!
  9. But there are people who are charging their cars like their smart phones these days And they probably think liquid is flowing into their phones!!
  10. It's free to dump building waste at my local tip so long as it arrives in a domestic vehicle (not a van or pickup truck)
  11. Why do you need 24hour wireless? Anywhere you have an inverter you have energy loss. Instead of converting 12v DC to 240vAc then plugging in a transformer for the WiFi that drips the voltage back down to 12vDC, look to see if you can run he wireless direct from the batteries.
  12. I bet there are people in the world who think they are somehow recharging their car just as they do their smartphone, and have no idea the pump is actually pumping a flammable liquid into their car!
  13. Can you get a jubilee clip around it to clamp the crack closed?
  14. Are you trying to push the piston up from the bottom?? Don't. Remove the gudeon pin, and push the piston down from the top then re-attach to the conrod.
  15. The piston ring compressor doesn't have to fit into the barrel. Push the piston all the way down, put the compressor on the piston so the rings are compressed but the tool is sitting on top of the barrel, then a quick tap on the top of the piston with a plastic hammer and the piston will slip down out of the compression tool and into the barrel.

    Touring tips

Should add a Wiki section to the site so we can all contribute and keep relevant info grouped in pages..
  17. I've followed police cars at speeds over the limit before, but only the standard panda cars and vans, not the traffic cops with high tech stuff onboard to nab me! I've overtaken police vans before too with me going over 70 and I always speed past the fake police on the motorway just to let them know their police disguise didn't fool me and to get the rest of the people sheepishly following at 68mph to realise it's not a copper and get moving!
  18. I really want to buy one, leave it outside with a timelapse camera running and make a movie of its transformation from shiny new bike into a pile of rusty dust.
  19. Is the mobile version any good?

Was only asking!! Thought there might be some kind of reward/points system , like likes on arsebook or karma on reddit. Do they provided charts of popular tracks? Is it a way to discover what the "cool people" are listening to? And yes, my music taste is terrible.

Why?? Whats the benefits of letting others know what your listen to? I just put Spotify on random and skip the tracks I don't like the first 3seconds of.
  22. Do you need to drop the engine to do a topend rebuild?
  23. You should try flip flops I have! In the summer I took a spin around the block in shorts, flip-flops and t-shirt. Felt great but the S1000 frame gets pretty hot and burnt the inside of my thighs.
  24. They look better. More padding in the toe area too so you won't get "biker toe" from changing gear too much. The brown ones looked very thin over the toe.. like riding in trainers - painful gear changes after a while.
  25. The idea is that you tie them properly, and then use the strap provided for just that purpose to prevent them from dangling around. I agree that boots offer better protection in general, but if I can get shoes that are reinforced in the right places and wouldn't look out of place around town I'd prefer that. Because laces never come undone... Each to their own, but not my style. Looks like they would be very cold too with the air rushing in past the laces.
