Donnie Brasco Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Can anyone recommend a really loud horn? I've bought some snail horns which come as a twin(low and high note),not too keen so far firstly I got no room to fit both and if I did it's a bit hideous, looking for something compact which plugs straight on and scares the shit out of motorists where required Quote
Mr Fro Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 How about those air horn jobbies? The horn can be remote from the compressor so are pretty versatile with mounting. Quote
numptyspence Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 how about reworking these to fit somewhere on the bike Quote

Zipster Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 The horns on my K1100LT are great - get a second hand set off ebay. Quote
Zipster Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I've bought stuff from David before - well recommended. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201133067787 Quote
Donnie Brasco Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 Stu them horns cost an arm and a leg man! Cheers for that zipster I have similar twin snail Horns but managed to put only one of em as I can't find a good place to mount the other one Quote
Zipster Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Pity - they're louder than my car horn and pretty neat too. Mine are mounted behind the headlight. Quote
ApolloMozart Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I read somewhere that bikes should have a single tone horn.Did any of you (if any) who have dual tone horns have had any issues with MOT/police/insurance etc?I'm thinking about some more powerful horns but single tone ones are pretty weak, so my eyes are on some dual tone horns. Not dual tone horns , they have a problem with aternating two tone horns Quote
ApolloMozart Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I meant two horns, that will make it a "dual" tone "horn system" Quote
ApolloMozart Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 So is it OK to use two horns for a dual-tone setup on a bike? Will it pass the MOT? Quote
ApolloMozart Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 In that case I'll have to install an alpine horn!http://www.wanderlandjourneys.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Alphorn-Chiemgau-Tourismus-RS-600x400.jpegCan be heard from miles away! Quote
