RantMachine Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 To clarify, can you actually hear the starter motor trying to turn the engine over, or just a clicking noise? If it's the latter then it could be the solenoid, the one on my Lexmoto has a tendency to rust.Failing that, worth checking the connection between the carb and the cylinder head. The rubber on mine split on one occasion, that didn't exactly make for easy starts (or anything else, for that matter).Either problem would be more likely to happen as the cold and wet sets in, so they're probably worth a check. 1 Quote
Guest Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Thank you for the reply,it sounds like the starter motor is trying.....best way I can describe it would be an old car Tring to start while your applying the accelerateor. Quote

S-Westerly Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 I'm assuming the battery is in decent nick? If it was left outside for 2 years it won't be. Do you know what state the actual engine is? Seized piston for example won't go. Quote
dean7s Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 (edited) the battery is good con engine is turning over starter motor is turning the piston put it in gear and by hand can turn the wheel Edited April 24, 2024 by dean7s Quote

Mississippi Bullfrog Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Basically you need three things, fuel, spark, compression. Check that the plug is wet after cranking. If it's dry then fuel isn't getting into the cylinder. Have you checked there is a spark at the plug? If it's the old battery the capacity may be reduced to the point where it will crank the engine but not have enough amps to fire the ignition properly. You need a really healthy battery. Check there isn't a restriction in the exhaust. It wouldn't be the first time a mouse has nested in there when a bike has been laid up. You should feel a healthy flow of air when the engine is cranked over. Quote
