So today I got my first car, not much just a little fiat punto but it's warm and dry :D

I was sick of riding through the rain and the freezing cold so I had to do something I thought I would never do which was to sell my beloved TZR project to fund lessons, test and the car.

You can all hate on me for selling it but I feel it was the best choice for me.

Anyway, Wish me luck with my test!

I'm an official Seasonal rider!

A car's a car mate. So long as it runs and keeps you dry thats all that counts.

I know many will hate me for the next line, but IMO

bikes make great hobbies, cars make great transport.

Oh my bad, well best of luck then. I took my car off the road dec last year until april this year and i still loved the biking but got tired of being selective while shopping, or trips to laundrette (now have wash n dryer) you will like the added freedom

 the amount of times I've had to go to the shops and only get bare essentials, and not stuff I want :crybaby:

I tried filling my big rucksack up with shopping but I bought too much and had to double bag food and tie them around the straps

I'm more impressed that an 18yr old can afford to insure both!! thats a lot of moolah.

Insurance with black box on the car 1500

Insurance on my bike 1000

2500 divided by 12 = 210 (roughly)

I'm on an apprenticeship where my wage is 876 a month :)

I don't have house bills, mortgage, kids or any of that nonsense yet so trying to enjoy my money :)

You should have called this thread "Coming to a pitstop near you"

I do like the punto, but the ones my mates had suffered with all sorts. Keep on top of servicing, and keep the electrics clean and dry, and you should be ok :thumb:

Welcome to 4 wheels Mr Ricky, where you quickly learn how great being warm on the commute really is.

Hey,

For years I was adamant I would never get a car so only put the effort into getting my licence when I was 21. How ignorant was I to think I'd never need a car! I actually wondered how I managed without! Especially the backseat.... There's also something very nice about arriving at work in the middle of winter been too warm!

I still enjoy having a bike (used to be bikes gerrrr) but I can live without one.... I can't live without a car especially now I have kids.

I think if I lived out in the sticks or at least not in a big city, I'd probably own a car as well... but... I don't :)

They both have their pro's and cons and if you're in an area where you won't hit either traffic, or a red light every 30 seconds, you'll enjoy the car.

yep, with living in the sticks comes different sorts of problems... like needing to replace fence panels...

Try carrying three fence panels on your bike!!

This is my car from the weekend just gone:

Keep sitting in the car at work with the radio on and heating on

They may be referred to as FIAT (fix it again tomorrow) but everything is so easy to fix on it, everything is so accessible :)

I think I made the right choice, got piss wet through on the way home again, mum is wanting to kill me as I have the heating on all the time to dry everything
