rice-pudding Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I've got a couple of weeks off work in September with the other half. Wales is a place we've never been. Does anyone recommend it for a 4/5 day holiday? Quote
Joeman Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I went camping in Wales a couple of weeks ago.Stayed in Hill End campsite on the Gower peninsular. Some fantastic scenery around that part of the world. Quote
GaryJM Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Wales is good, Brecon Beacons and North Wales would make good biking holidays Quote

SteveH30 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I'm originally from Aberystwyth, some great biking roads around there. Llangollen has great roads around it including Horseshoe Pass. Someone mentioned Brecon Beacons which I agree but just watch out for Kamikaze sheep, and if your lucky you may hear the army drills! Snowdonia and the north west of Wales has great roads to explore. motomarino Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Watch your speed; Watch for Horseboxes by the side of the road (Cameras); Watch for cars up your rear (Unmarked - watched them do this to a scooby once. He took so much then floored it, they then nicked him!)- but most of all watch your speed....there is no ten percent in Wales! O/H and her brother both got a five year pressie from them, She was 31mph, her brother following 34mph. Quote
dannybee Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Just got back from Barmouth and the cost road down towards Twyn looked a great ride unfortunately I was in the car.I did speak to someone who said they'd been done speeding for 31 in a 30 but just took it with a pinch of salt, heard a few people say it now though seems harsh! Zod Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 I'll sort that out when the time comes. Not in any hurry to jump from a 125 to a bigger bike so will put some money away for it and get one when I can ^^ Quote
XmisterIS Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Where to go in Wales?Crib Gogh. You can't go to Wales and not do Crib Gogh! It's not technically difficult, just don't fall off. Quote
Throttled Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I camped at the Dolau Inn, Mochdre, basic but very cheap (£5 a night off season and since I ate in the pub) and centrally located near Newtown. Generally the roads are great, the A5 through Snowdonia was a great ride, as was up Hellfire Pass (Bwlch y Groes). Quote
