Home made Motorcycle spring compressor

Old car brake discs have a use!

 

first you start with two rear brake discs off an audi a4! other brands are available!

 

and two lengths or threaded bar and some nuts and washers!

Stick one disc in a vice and make the hole a few mm larger! a sanding flap wheel with drill attachment works great

then you take the other disc and hmmm lets say a rear shock!!

and voile one dismantled shock :mrgreen:

This was a spare shock I had for the FJR I am thinking of putting a heavier spring on mine as its a bit soft!

 

the hard part is getting the spring off but with this set up it was a doddle 8-)

 

can't beat home made tools

its been through a lot has that vice!!


its taken some abuse over the last 20 years I have known it!

I think you missed your calling as a fabricator, that is a level of resourcefulness you don't see outside an episode of a Bear Grylls: Born survivor :lol:
