Hoggs Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 ooooh wd40 chain cleaner! I need more of that Quote
RantMachine Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Dang it, they aren't doing the £12 tank bag this year... Quote
JoshTimmins Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Just bought myself some more chain lube, glad I held off on the cleaner.thanks for the heads up Quote
al_stu Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 I might get the drive motion detector I had one. Goes through batteries quick and the mrs went mad about it ringing all the time, kept turning it off when I wasn't looking! And mine was just in the garage, not actually outside. To be honest I've been a bit disappointed with the cheap aldi electrics, it is just cheap crap...not a good deal on something expensive.Best things from aldi are the base layers (the work wear ones are identical to the bike ones so don't need to wait for bike season) and a windproof golfing t shirt thing. Amazing under leathers/textiles at keeping me warmer. Quote

tPIC Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 I've just noticed that the WD40's are the small 200ml ones.. Not such a bargain, but not bad. Might see if I can fit one under the seat. Quote

Hoggs Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 WD-40 400ml Specialist Motorbike Chain Cleaner https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0074JJYOI/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_Uph7wb84TA84R" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; darcol uk. It's a quid more than buying 2x 200 from aldi but I don't have to go to aldi... I call it the crazy german shop because all the wd40 stuff I've had from them before was all in german Quote
Stu Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 I thought I had kept you waiting long enough Quote
Arwen Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 I've been using the WD40 chain lube and cleaner, but has any tried the chain wax? Does it make less mess than the chain lube? I'm probably simply not practised enough at putting on chain lube, but when I put it on it looks like there is barley any there. Then I go out and it is flicked up all over my number plate/Lplate/back wheel :-/ Wondering if the wax would be better? Quote

Currently using the WD40 Chain lube too, very very messy.During summer I use Wurth Dry Chain lube which has been excellent. It basically a wax and doesn't fling at all. Added bonus is that is smells nice too.Not sure on the WD40 Chain Wax, but i'd imagine it will be the same. My dealer advised me not to use the wax in winter as it collects all the crud from the road. Quote
RantMachine Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 I can vouch for WD40 chain lube not flinging any worse than the Muc Off stuff... I just switched and the Muc Off gets EVERYWHERE. Quote
tPIC Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 I think I'm going to try the wax for a change now that the weather is improving. Quote
runningman Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Gear oil is the best that I have used. Little and often. Cheap as chips too. Quote
Joeman Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Gear oil is the best that I have used. Little and often. Cheap as chips too.Flings everywhere as it's not sticky. Quote
runningman Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Yup, that's why you use a little! Simples......eh? [GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES] Quote
tPIC Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 Equivalent wd40 prices at Halfords for comparison. Remember to HALF the halfords prices to get to the 200ml equivalent. Makes the wax the best value, saving. £2 per 200ml.. Good deal. Quote
soll Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 the motorcycling rucksack they are doinf is pretty nice, comes with rainproof cover Quote
Wynne G Oldman Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 Has anyone bought the boots? They look pretty good for the price. Quote
al_stu Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 I haven't but if you search around on here I'm sure someone had a pair last year and wasn't impressed. However the press blurb is that aldi upped the quality a bit this year Quote
