ThePhatomfart Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 That looks spanking. Though it's like an adults balance bike atm but you could flog them I bet!Sent from my SM-G935F using TapatalkCheers Mr W , am enjoying bringing this old bike back to life Quote

ThePhatomfart Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 bringing this old bike back to life Certainly are mate, are you going for your own custom paint or standard on the fairings?Hi, trying to keep it as standard as possible, only didn't like the original colour for this model which was dark blue and grey, so will go for the following years colour which is the standard red/white/blue, only doing that cos the original colour makes the bike look shabby, if you get my drift The Blue OneThe Coloured One Quote

ThePhatomfart Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 looking good so far I want a project but time and money say no!!!Hi Stu, including the bike and bearings, bushes, paint ,oil, gaskets and other it's only cost about £6oo, and a lot of elbow grease , will be spraying the plastics myself, so that might be a cock-up, but at least I can rub it down and start again Quote
Stu Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Its still £600 I could be spending elsewhere though Although I have git chance of a cheap SV650 that requires a little work! Quote
ThePhatomfart Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 ooh love the colour scheme you're going for!Hi Hoggs, yes the red white and blue does look a lot better, but could be next year for the spraying once Iv'e finished off the electrics and the bike, have put the sub frame on today and hopefully pop the engine in tomorrow, still the only new things i bought for it (apart from the bearings and bushes ) is the radiator and clock frame, everything else has rubbed up nicely Quote
Joeman Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Woukd look goood in the urban street tiger colour scheme.. Quote
ThePhatomfart Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 Woukd look goood in the urban street tiger colour scheme..Hi Joe , no sure about that, looks a bit too much orange to me , never liked that Repsol colour scheme either, Ugh orange wheels , got to think about the next person who has it, can't go wrong with red, white and blue, (hears strains of Rule Britannia) Quote
bonio Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 have put the sub frame on today and hopefully pop the engine in tomorrowHahaha. I can't imagine "popping" an engine in anywhere. I can imagine a lot of foul words and some bloody knuckles and time anxiously spent viewing YouTube vids, and I can imagine things that should be straight being a little bit bent and bolts breaking and screws rounding off. But "popping" an engine in is on a plane that's just completely outside the range of my experience. It all looks great. And red white and blue is the best colour scheme for a CBR. Quote

ThePhatomfart Posted August 4, 2016 Author Posted August 4, 2016 Engine and engine covers on, loom next , here's where the spanners and screwdrivers go flying about http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r575/spagiratwink/DSCF1028_zpscx8qxsnw.jpghttp://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r575/spagiratwink/DSCF1029_zps71kn5fu3.jpghttp://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r575/spagiratwink/DSCF1030_zps529rjkpj.jpghttp://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r575/spagiratwink/DSCF1031_zps3qixnspb.jpg Quote

ThePhatomfart Posted August 4, 2016 Author Posted August 4, 2016 Looking good, spanner....... Are you fitting the stock loom or modifying one?Hi Tango, its the stock one that I stripped down, cleaned, and recovered, I'm trying to keep it as original as possible, working on the plastics as well , would have been easy to by the Chinese ones, but they haven't got that Honda parts number stamped inside Quote
Guest Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Looks as awesome as ever mate, its a bit of a shame all this good looking stuff you have done is going to be covered up Quote
ThePhatomfart Posted August 4, 2016 Author Posted August 4, 2016 Looks as awesome as ever mate, its a bit of a shame all this good looking stuff you have done is going to be covered upHi Hooner, it wont matter, whoever gets the bike gets the pics as well, and I'll move on to doing another, at least they will have a bike that's tight physically although the engine wont be new, hopefully it will look like a new one, maybe a nc29 next, but still a while on this one first Quote
Joeman Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 If you make a habit of restoring bikes you should setup your own blog site to document every bike. That would be really cool to see and be a great selling point as people would know youre serious about restoration and don't cut corners...We can all tell it's going to be immaculate before you finish just by looking at the state of your lawn and flowerbeds! The restorations are for giving me something to do and not really about making money , just like to see old bikes being won back from the scrapyard Quote
