adekeys Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 ok so got a er-5 for the wife when she passes her test next year....it starts and runs fine, but as soon as you release the clutch in first gear the engine stallshave tried moving the rear wheel on its own to see if anything like the brakes were binding but all seem to run smoothlyalso trying to engage second is almost impossibleis there either something wrong with the gearbox or something with the clutch? Thanks Quote
megawatt Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Clutch is dragging Check cable, release mechanism and if necessary strip and clean clutch. Quote
adekeys Posted September 21, 2016 Author Posted September 21, 2016 if the clutch was dragging would the back wheel not spin all the time?? Quote
Stu Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Moved to the right section Check the side stand switch Quote
Tango Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Will it run ok with the bike on the centre stand? If it cuts out with no load then it could be a shagged gearbox..... Quote

JRH Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Also on Kwaks you can't engage 2nd gear till you are actually moving. Helps on selecting neutral when stationary. Quote
