I'd speak to trading standards and I'd take the bike back and demand a full refund

plus expenses.

It might be going now but for how long?

I'm going for to setup a dodgy bike dealership that sells broken bikes! Seems so many people are buying brand new bikes that break and think it's normal to pay for them to be fixed!! Easy money

I suspect the dealer didn't fully charge the battery before delivery - which is silly on his part. He probably expects anyone with a new bike is going to be riding it so the battery ought to get a charge that way. In your case that didn't happen. That's poor PDI on his part.

In the end it sounds like the problem was a combination of a flat battery and then a blown fuse - could the fuse have popped when you where swapping out the battery? Who knows, but it was a simple issue which you sorted because the dealer was making noises about charging you to collect it.

Which is precisely why he made such noises - to make sure the customer checks all the obvious simple things before he makes a long journey to find it's something relatively simple.

I can see why people are saying it's the dealer's problem, but I can also see why he wanted to make sure you'd checked all the simple things first. A blown fuse is hardly a major warranty issue. Sure he could, and should, have been more helpful but my guess is that a local dealer might have been more helpful because he knows you could be a repeat customer. When you buy at a distance the guy knows he's never going to see you again. No excuse, but it's the way it works.

Fuses blow when the current in the circuit exceeds a safe level... If a brand new bike is blowing fuses that's something the dealer needs to look at.

Unless it was caused by the owner messing about changing batteries which they shouldn't need to do on a brand new bike!

Dead battery might be a simple thing to rectify but it should not happen on a brand new bike and fuses certainly shouldn't be blowing!!

Hi,

Total novice bike rider here!

I've just had a Bullit Hunt S 125 delivered. It's go less than 2 km on the clock but was stored in the first owner's garage for 2 years. It just won't start and appears to have a flat battery.

The manual that came with the bike is quite third rate. I wanted to know how to access the battery to change/charge it. Surprisingly I can't find any decent videos on You Tube either.

I'm going to check beneath the seat today but I would also like to access the area hidden behind the bike's guard box. I cab't seem to see any screws holding the guard box in place. Does it simply pull off? I just didn't wish to use excessive force and knacker the box unnecessarily.

Also, what's the best way of jump starting the bike?

I really appreciate some assistance.

Thanks.

Regards,

Arun

If the battery voltage is too low, a smart charger may not start to charge it, they need a certain voltage like 8v to trigger them. To be honest if it's that low it's knackered anyway. Less than 12v = flat

It's contacts on the key cylinder:

Remove head light

Remove cylinder

Unscrew black plastic cover bottom of cylinder.

Clean copper contacts very fine wet dry

Final wipe with cotton bud to remove dust.

Put everything back and start your bike.
