Saw blade scraper.

They do actually sell them now so you don't have to butcher other tackle :thumb:

Score the old gasket sections preferably with a hard non metallic scraper. Soak with wd40 . Preferably use a non metallic scraper to remove the remains.

Brass wire brush is a handy tool .

I use a slightly blunt Stanley blade.

Works a dream but make sure it's blunt if you're using it on aluminium.

If using a metallic bladed scraper be careful especially on sensitive/crucial faced areas that you dont score/gouge as it can lead to non sealing of the gasket ( head gasket areas ) especially on softer metals

I wouldn't put a metal scraper of any kind anywhere near mating surfaces. I use a solvent such as brake cleaner , wooden scrapers,a cloth and even fingernails plus hours of frustrating hard work. Petrol works well just don't tell the HSE.

I used a spare plastic tool I use for opening up phone cases... Worked a treat when combined with some old oil to soften the gasket.

There is some stuff from Loctite 7200 gasket remover.

Used it from stripping paint off some engine parts, can't vouch on gaskets though.
