Snod Blatter Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Interesting, I guess you could also try epoxy resin if it has to stick better? Has it been blown out or what? Quote

Play the video, it's quite impressive. I've bought a couple of the rods off ebay + a blow torch. Don't know if I have the courage to try it for real, but I guess the worse that can happen is that it won't get hot enough and the metal won't stick. Quote
TimR Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 any chemical metal and even mechanical metal repair really needs the unit to be clean and oil free so i reality needs removing , cleaned thoroughly and dried .Try keying the area ( roughing/scoring the surface ) covers are more of an alloy and aluminium welding can burn bigger holes if not careful. I don't think ordinary aluminium welding rods will work with just a blow torch. The machinemart kit is specially designed for this. I would try doing some test pieces first, that will give you confidence. When you get the cover off just make sure that the work piece is totality clean and I reckon you could a decent job with minimal dressing afterwards. Quote
