James in Brum Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Hello groovy gang,What would be a nice ride out from south Birmingham? Up to a couple of hours. Any suggestions? Quote
Gerontious Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Clent Hills. to the west. Lickey hills to the south. or... back roads to Kenilworth, Temple Balsall. or the around Redditch. so much down that way. I kinda miss it. Quote

dynax Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Bit more of a stretch The Brecon Beacons Quote
James in Brum Posted September 7, 2019 Author Posted September 7, 2019 Headed south on the 435, swing off to Redditch then followed the signs to Stratford, then out of Stratford towards the m40 but decided to head back the way I came. A nice couple of hours out. Quote
fastbob Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Oh where do I even begin with this one ? Stratford upon Avon, the Malvern Hills, Henley in Arden to Warwick , Burton Dassett , Edge Hill , take your pick . I live in South West Coventry so I do a lot of riding in that area too . One thing I can say with certainty is avoid Coventry . The only good thing I have to say about it is that there are roads leading away from it in all directions . Quote
fastbob Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Bit more of a stretch The Brecon Beacons Not in a two hour round trip . Quote
fastbob Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 There's a couple of nearby bike meets on a Wednesday . Hoar Park between Daw Mill and Nuneaton and Riverside, Stratford upon Avon. EDIT: just looked at the Hoar Park one online and it's on Wednesday mornings ! Must be aimed at retirees then . Quote

The Hoar Park meet is quite an experience as long as the weather is right.Nick named the ‘Cinderella club’ coz everyone f*cks off around 12:00You will see all sorts of old and rare machinery plus modern & custom stuff.fastbob is quite correct in that it’s mostly frequented by retirees, those on split shifts, holiday & sickies.I’ve been there quite a few times this year ( retired )There’s a cafe & coffee shop.If your in the mood to talk Bollox about all bike related stuff this is it.Really friendly no dicking about. Bender Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Bugatti owners club, about an hour ride out, even better if there is a hill climb on, some lovely little villages and country roads. Quote
dynax Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Bit more of a stretch The Brecon Beacons Not in a two hour round trip . Not a round trip no, but doable in an afternoon 5-6 hours at steady pace one for a Sunday maybe Quote
fastbob Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Oh , just remembered ! The big thing at the moment is Caffeine and Machine on the road out of Stratford just before the Ettington roundabout . It's basically a pub and restaurant trying to cash in on people who don't drink and drive . Quote

fastbob Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Another one , a few bikers at a loose end often meet up at Bikers World near Coleshill . There's a good tea and hot batches ( Cobs to you James ) shed in the carpark. Good place to assemble if you're going up to Matlock in Derbyshire which is a bike Mecca at the weekends ( Great fish and chips ) But I don't know how much you already know . Are you new to the area or new to biking ? Quote
