Datatool TrakKING ?

Me again... Honda are now providing Datatool's TrakKING Adventure system free of charge to new bikes. The only cost to the new owner is the on going subscription.

Anyone here know about/use it? How annoying is it when you are moving it around in the garage? What happens if you stop paying for the subscription - do they plague you with emails?

Do you find it useful at all even if your bike has never been stolen?

Will it bring your insurance down enough to warrant paying the subscription fee each year ... I doubt it .

[mention]Six30[/mention], It's £109 a year, so I doubt it. However that's the same price as netflix so I'm probably going to try it for a year and see what I think. Since the actual device and fitting is free.

When you purchase a brand new Honda Motorcycle, you can take advantage of the Free Datatool Trakking Adventure S5 tracker.

This product retails at £249 plus installation. To qualify for the free Trakking Adventure you must first sign to agree to pay 12 months subscription.

This is priced at £109 for the year or £9.95 per month.

If the subscription is not active, the tracker will turn itself off after a few months, this is due to the SIM card inside which costs to keep itself connected.

Like all Thatcham approved products, you can receive a discount from insurance companies. But this depends on the insurance company and they will only give you a

10% discount for one product. However, the security of your bike is worth so much more than a small discount on your insurance.

I considered one of these a couple of years ago, I couldn't find one insurance company that would give a discount. Im not sure about these... seems to have a fundamental flaw.

and the only way to find out if this flaw is real is to read the instructions that come with the unit. which appears to only be possible if its purchased.

I like the idea of the Monimoto tracker, a good alternative and only €3 a month for sim, or install your own sim. change from bike to bike - no wiring involved.

I have this in my wife’s Honda cb125r. Brand new bike that never works because the tracker flattens the battery every three days. Wish I hadn’t bothered because there is no difference on the insurance at all - although we’re not in a high risk area for theft so I guess that’s not always the case. Still I’d love it to be taken off the bike now.
