Throttled Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 I can guess the difference between the Halfords Bike It high and low note horns, but in practice, is one any louder or better than the other? The Halfords website has the same details for both;"Features and Benefits of Halfords Bike it Low Note Motorcycle Horn Original equipment specification 12v E approved Replaces both twin or single terminal horns for maximum flexibility Complete with easy fitting instructions for no worries installation"Features and Benefits of Halfords Bike it High Note Motorcycle Horn Replaces both twin or single terminal horns for maximum flexibility Original equipment specification 12v E approved Complete with easy fitting instructions for stress free installation" Quote
S-Westerly Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Don't know owt about Halfords horn but the Ducati came with a feeble Italian scooter horn which was horrible. The Denali Sound Bomb was a straight forward plug and play swap. Sounds considerably more authoritive. Quote
fastbob Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Low note for big bikes and high note for little bikes . Obvious when you think about it . Quote
Throttled Posted April 10, 2020 Author Posted April 10, 2020 I am happy with the simple swap using the existing wiring terminals. Quote
Bender Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 I am happy with the simple swap using the existing wiring terminals. I had looked at them, go buy and fit them then let's know if its worth it Quote
Throttled Posted April 10, 2020 Author Posted April 10, 2020 I fitted one before, it was fine. I did not notice that there were different versions and was wondering if anyone knew why? I do not know whether it was a low or high note one that I previously fitted. Quote
Stu Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 You're supposed to fit them as a pair one of each A high-tone horn produces a more piercing sound. This enables the signal to reach forward and farther. The low-tone horn, with a lower frequency, is better heard at close range. Used together, the two horns maximize signal area coverage, ensuring better safety. Quote
Throttled Posted April 10, 2020 Author Posted April 10, 2020 It will be one or t'other. I think I will go for low as I do not want to sound gay. Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 Fit a 'Nautilus' horn - Can be heard a lot further away! Quote
Bender Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 It will be one or t'other. I think I will go for low as I do not want to sound gay. I wasn't aware gay had a sound Quote
Throttled Posted April 13, 2020 Author Posted April 13, 2020 Fitted the low note horn and it sounds just like the other horns I have fitted to bikes. The difference must be marginal. Quote
