What did you do to your bike today?

Winter draws on.... Took the Z500 out today, down to York (Strawberry Fields Cafe) over to Helmsley, then the TT urn to Stoksley and home, 125 miles. New rear suspension working well, will have to soften up the front damping now. Bye bye ATF and hello 5W fork oil.

Had a great ride out to Barton upon Humber yesterday evening, there were six of us that went and had a variety of roads one of which was more like a green lane, another that was like a rollercoaster and i actually managed to achieve some flight unintentionally , and nearly got taken out by a pothole into the bargain all in all a great ride and the fish and chips were very nice too

The weather is dreadful, so time to finally test my new goretex winter gloves.

I detest cleaning bikes, I've waited a few days but I knew I has to wash off the Welsh filth I picked up so reluctantly dragged my arse out to do it.

Scrubs up nice, still amazed I got this for just £2k, it's been a cracking bike so far. Much better than my last K12S in fact which was visually far nicer.

Little tip for those who don't have access to a hosepipe (I live in a flat).

I use one of these, £15 from Argos. Sure, it's never going to be as powerful as a Karcher but it's enough to rinse the bike off after washing. Small enough to put in a cupboard after use too.

I know someone who lived in a town house so garage at the bottom and first floor was where the first available tap was! And no way to get a outside tap fitted

They used to run a hose pipe out the window

They had an old water butt so I told them to just fill it up then connect the pressure washer to that. They used to get a about 4 washes out of it per fill

Sure is a great idea, unfortunately I don't have access or room for one. Bugger.

Went for a short ride to a very hilly area not too far from where I live.

I still need to get confident in slow speed handling, so I practise quite sharp turns uphill and downhill.

Of course, as soon as I went out, the storm ended, so winter gloves stayed off.

Just fitted up the Optimate solar in (and on I guess) the shed.

The only faff in the whole thing was siting it so that the lead could easily reach both bikes without having to buy an extension cable.

I changed the spark plugs and air filter yesterday, went for a long ride along the south coast today and then changed the oil & filter on my return.

That's the bike serviced for winter.

The road from Kielder dam up to the village is pretty good as is the (narrow) road from the village over to Newcastleton. Happy memories of it.

It's not what I did......it's what the bike did!

Going into a left hander this morning and the bike threw a wobbler going into a left hand bend.

When it happened I initially thought a puncture or diesel on the road. But there was no puncture, and when I rode back to check the bend it was clear.

However, looking at the video it seems more like a sort of head shake because you can see the screen moving.

Tyres and pressures are fine, no play in wheel bearings, steering head bearings are moving freely......there's literally nothing I can pinpoint.

I've had plenty of back end slides before on bikes, but on each occasion I knew what had caused it......usually me too heavy on the footbrake. But this time I didn't touch the brake!

This one's a mystery to me......here it is.....

When it happened I initially thought a puncture or diesel on the road. But there was no puncture, and when I rode back to check the bend it was clear.

Its almost like the bike just stood itself up mid corner and looked like the front wheel wasn't very happy about something

Were there any loose stones or shite on the road surface though looking through the video a few times I cant see anything

Deffo an odd one, you weren't going that fast and the bend wasn't exactly tight. Weird.

Though you saying that I kept on having the feeling that the front tyre was down on pressure even though I put 36 psi in it at the petrol station before we left for our ride so I know it wasnt down to pressure, it was likely all in my noggin that it was low and I may have been tense on the bars without realizing it, I know at a few times on the ride when getting abit of a wriggle on I had to actually out loud tell myself to relax on the bars and trust the bike knew what it was doing

Was a strange ride at points as when we were just having a bit more of a gentle ride through the twisty bits the bike felt all over the shop but when I was give it some whelly the bike felt like it was together and working like it should and I was actually able to trust it.

Not sure I should have to ride so quickly to get the feeling of trust in the bike

So just been watching it through and I have noticed at around 4 or 5 seconds in theres a slight change in road surface which looks slightly horrible could that have been the problem?
