No idea! change my mind every day! It's got to be a compromise because of the knees but cruisin ain't for me! Would you not get away with a low seat version of some sort? There is plenty of BM's that do low frame and low seat Quote
rennie Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 Not necessarily! Low seat means cramped up legs unless they're forward.I need to go sit on/test ride a lot don't want to spend much money either but the cruiser is (or was before covid)worth more than I paid.I'm thinking FJR/GTR/PAN/BMW or Retro like Z900,GSX1400 etc Quote
rennie Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 I also really really want to try an MT10! I rode Sue's MT125 back from Manchester no problems at all!most fun I've had on a bike for years! Quote
Tiggie Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 rennie Did you go back on the motorway? I cant believe that would of been fun Quote
rennie Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 No mate! across t moors! Had a proper blast! Sue couldn't catch me in the car Quote
Stu Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 I'm thinking FJR/GTR/PAN/BMW or Retro like Z900,GSX1400 etc Do you think your legs could support the weight at a stand still? I have had a few moments before especially when fully loaded up Quote
rennie Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 Yeah! probably! haven't looked at figures but the cruiser is heavy! Quote
Stu Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 Yeah! probably! haven't looked at figures but the cruiser is heavy! The fjr is 260 kg ish the newer they are the heavier! but the weight is top end heavy! A BMW boxer motor would be better IMO Quote
S-Westerly Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 I find the Ducati pretty heavy when loaded up - about 225 kg. I can get my feet down fine on a flat surface but on any kind of slope I need to tilt the bike uphill and put that foot down. If I forget and use the downhill foot it quickly gets embarrassing. Bike and I gently subside which is soooo embarrassing. Haven't done it for a while though but I can virtually guarantee I will. Quote
Stu Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 S-Westerly I had a similar experience in Germany! I am pretty tall and have no issues but this one time I went to put my foot down while on an incline and there was no floor there Result being me and the wife on our arse Quote

I thought the same till I rode the R1200RT Quote
rennie Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 just looked! mine is 283kg dry! 303kg wet!ok I know it's lower down but I won't know till I try I need to overtake more! filtering would be nice too!The cruiser is good! comfortable, not as slow as you'd think but it just doesn't have enough smiles per mile! And! I detest having to keep polishing stuff! Quote
Stu Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 I know its not slow I have followed it You would be welcome to take mine for a ride but not sure when that would be! and we also have no plans to head darn sarf Quote

No idea! change my mind every day! It's got to be a compromise because of the knees but cruisin ain't for me! Had to change my GPX because of knee probs. Ended up with the Bandit 1250. Seat set to high position knees are now ok for a few hours. Possibility of fitting adjustable pegs to get more distance hip to ankle. Can also stretch my legs by resting feet on the engine crash bars.Pretty quick off the mark and will easily do 70 mph .( quick enough to surprise Hoggs during a ride out). But they are a bit top heavy.Had a tracer as a courtesy bike and that seemed fine. Quote
Ian Frog Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 For anyone considering the GSX1400 I was staggered at how high up the weight felt and how high the seat height was.I was disappointed as I was considering another retro and even being of reasonable leg length I could see it was an embarrassing situation waiting to happen.Rich If you come down to see your relatives when this is all over set a bit of time aside and I am sure we can arrange for a ride out for you on the Busa to try it for size and I can show you some nice quiet roads on the Rex.CheersIan Quote
