Replying

What an I missing here ? When I attempt to add a reply to a thread , my previous reply pre populates the box . ??

It saves anything you didn't finish, there is a tick box to delete it

Just tried it, on the mobile it comes up at bottom saying previous text was saved, there is a x to delete it

I am guessing this is only on mobile Bob? 

I haven't used my phone much so can't say I have seen it happen

Happens on the IPad as well, but only if it is from an unfinished post. As @Bender says.

One little bug I did find when replying (or even just posting) is if you double click any of the smileys it deletes your entire post and replaces it with the smiley you chose  

Not the end of the world but thought I'd share as its annoying when you have your entire post reduced to

Right , well I'll give it a try . It only does it when I try to reply twice in the same thread . I would have thought that once I've sent or posted it would clear itself . I have to say , I'm still struggling with this new format . Just now I went to unread posts , looked at something , accidentally exited and now of course it's no longer in unread posts . But where is now if I want to find it again ?

You'll find it under the "Active" button.

I have a feeling that might be the default stream button, which is personal settings-dependent. (For example, mine takes me to a completely different stream - the one I've set as my default.)

I believe you are right 

all activity should be the default stream though and that is pretty much unread posts

The default is unread as labelled on the bottom of mobiles so not to cause confusion 

But you can change your own default as described in my guide

Bob, you can still look the old way. Hit the home buttons and look for thread titles or if it is not longer in un read you can search for it with the search at the top of the page.
