  1. 1. Which would be the best option? Are the Almax/Pragmasis worth the exrta?

So I currently have a 14mm hardened chain and suitable lock, but thinking of upgradng/replacing with either the Oxford Nemesis (16mm) or Beast (22mm), or should I be looking at Almax or Pragmassis chains instead? Are they worth all that extra money?

It will be hooked through an Abus WBA 100 as I don't have a shed/garage to put it in.

Thanks

As far as these specific chains go, I have little input. However from a brand perspective I would recommend Oxford, I have had someone try and grind through my Oxford chain without success, some pretty deep cuts in the links and scratches on the lock too.

I also double up with an Oxford monster disc lock too.

hope that helps in some way.

I have a 19mm, 1.5m Almax with supplied Squire lock, very happy with it.....Not the sort of chain I'd want to carry around but for security inside the garage it's great, I use it in conjunction with a gear gremlin ground anchor.  Not the cheapest but the quality is amazing and although I know full well, if some tow rag wants my bike they'll probably still get it, it certainly throws a major stumbling block in the path of your casual thief.  I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending Almax 👍

I have the Oxford Nemesis which is used in the garage to secure both bikes. The sleeve over the chain works fine and I like the lock that comes with it. You can also use it as a disc lock which is handy. SBS are the cheapest place to get them.

Check out pewag chains too

I've a peweg chain and lock bought from brindley chains. I can't really fault it. I've had it 3 years and there's not a mark on it. The lock has been used every day for 3 years in all weathers and is as good as new. There's some good reviews on YouTube from channels that test chains and locks etc. Only problem is it isn't on the approved list by insurance companies

I go for time v quality.

Its presently chained up outside house rather than in garage, as I was on nights last night and need to nip to out this afternoon.

Its got 1 D lock on. 1 disc lock and a cheap chain.

My thinking is. Its a faff to get it.

But also if they want it they will get it anyway.
