Hi all its come to the time for a new bike im set on getting a 1000 sports bike ive mainly been looking at 1000rr fireblade and zx10r's but I'm open to other bikes

My budget is £5000 but can push it another 500 or 600 quid if need be.

So whats everyone's opinions on build quality personal preference, value for money, best model etc.

If any of those are your first bike it will be a nice way to get yourself killed....

Being a Honda guy my vote would go to CBR1000rr

No not my first bike I've been riding for 4 years now 6 months on a 125 2 n half years on a 500 n 1 year on 600 ive rid 1000cc bikes here and there when I get the lucky chance to so know what I'm doing lol

That's a relief :thumb:

Still voting for the honda.

Keep in mind that you will be able to do more with a 600 than with a heavier 1000

Unless  you plan on doing track days, it's pretty pointless having something so powerful you will barely be out of first gear by the time you hit the speed limit.

Just a personal opinion that it just seems a waste to not use it to it's full potential :thumb:

Personal preference bud I've been on gsxr 750 and 600' and they are the perfect machine for the roads but I just want to take the step of owning a thou and if it does come become pointless ill sell and go down a engine size lol

Yeah bud I've been really interested in the blades and alot of people I have talked to who I ride with have said the weight difference isn't too noticeable when riding, im really liking the 08+ models with the Honda symbols on the tank lol

If you want one just get one end of :thumb:

I just see it from a different perspective, but there are things that I want that others would think why do you want that

At the end of the day if you want it and have a yearning for one that's why we have personal choice :thumb:

It is really down to personal preferences.

As long you take into account a more expensive insurance and road tax.

Exactly that bud im not going to be steered off a thou because someone else dosnt see the point in em for road use but I just curious to see other peoples options on what they all think lol

The good thing about heavy bikes is that is harder to steal :thumb:

Nobody would even think about taking my ST1300 :D

Yeah bud I've got a little er5 as a commuter as I live with my mrs theres no where I can park it other than on the road side ive had it stolen once but found out where it was taken to so got recover and since then another 2 theft attempts so the weekend toys stay at my mums house chained to anchor points lol

Any thoughts on engine configuration V4 - V2 - Inline 4. BHP v Torque, I would have any of the 1000cc sports bikes. I've had an R1, Fireblade and 916. Loved them all but crippling to ride.

Plenty to choose from out there with that budget

All I can recommend is to test ride as many as you can as only you will know what feels right for you

You thought about an R1? Or maybe look at something exotic like an Aprillia or ducati etc

what tracks are you thinking of lol.

If I was looking at a new bike Id want to sit on and read up on as many as possible. Your budget is decent so loads to go at.

fireblades etc are lighter than my 650 bandit so just being 1000cc doesnt make them heavy if after a sports bike

edit,,, after reading above, Aprillias sound unique I think, can hear them coming a mile off.

I think from the model change 2009 onwards they had abs and combined braking

With 170odd bhp it's maybe worth looking for 2009 onwards 😁
