NE150N80 Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 Hi All I'm relatively new to biking (passed my Mod2 in October) and so this is my first winter From watching a lot of YouTube videos and reading a lot of articles, so in addition to loving my bike, I am sold on the value of keeping her clean (esp in winter). So I've bought a lot recommended cleaning products, brushes, cloths, microfiber mitts etc. etc. and I'm very happy at the end of each clean - the bike looks great and I'm reassured it's protected. Problem is. I'm then left with a load of brushes that have have dirt and grime all over them (especially those 3-sided chain brushes which is thick with gunk). What doe people do to clean their cleaning brushes? (Is this an insane question - sorry, I'm a noob!) Thanks! Quote
manxie49 Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 I clean most of the brushes in hot water and use washing up liquid, my chain brush I clean in paraffin, and then, if necessary, washing up liquid again and rinse off. 1 Quote
fullscreenaging Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 (edited) Margarine. Then washing up liquid to clean the Marge off. Don’t believe me? Go wipe your hands on your chain and get a good bit on and then get a tea spoon of marge (butter if you're posh) and just watch in amazement! Gerontious Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 (edited) Never used brushes. Only brush I do have is a 1” paint brush that I use for oiling the chain. For cleaning the bike I use kitchen scouring sponges. The type with the green pad. And microfibre cloths.(which go in the washing machine after use) Edited January 20, 2022 by Gerontious 1 Quote
husoi Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 Leave them in water with detergent (usually whatever is in the kitchen cabinet) overnight. rinse and dry ready for next use. But I don't have a chain to clean so my job is a lot easier. 1 Quote
Joe85 Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 Never clean the chain brush. Use it 5/6 times, then bin it for a new one. Oxford Motorcycle Chain Brush - SPORTSBIKESHOP 1 Quote
