I had to put air in my tires and it was an absolute pain in the backside to get the nozzle to fit properly, as there is not a lot of room to maneuver with brake discs and sprockets in the way!

Can recommend me something I can use at home?

Cheers

I use a Halford digital pump which I connect to a lithium power pack. The hose is quite flexible and works well on both my bikes. You preset the pressure you want and it runs until that is reached, then it shuts off.

Thanks, will have a look. How accurate are the pressure readings?

I also use the car's compressor if I go on a longer trip.

If your trips are short then checking the pressure before setting out will be good enough.

If touring you maybe want to consider a TMPS, it's very handy and you have the pressure and temperature in real time

I have this I think it was from eBay, accurate to within a couple of PSI had it 3 years. It's never going to inflate a tyre from flat but keeps them topped up. Will easily do 4 tyres on the car too. Compact to carry and charges up quickly

So far as I can tell they are very accurate. I tested it against another gauge and it came out spot on. I set the tyres on both bikes with it and they handle fine so I reckon the pressures are right.

Buy a foot pump?

I have a large air 100 litre air compressor and also a tiny air compressor for touring like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Inflator-AA-Compact-Lightweight-Portable/dp/B07RSC13TZ

But for just topping tyres up I just use my double piston foot pump! It doesn't take long to get a few psi in to a bike tyre with a foot pump and is far quicker than messing about with compressors no matter how big or small

They buy a decent pressure gauge for checking the pressure

Foot pumps....how quaint.

Plus they fall to bits and the built in gauge is about as truthful as Boris Johnson.

Mine must easily be 20 years old and still going strong!

The gauge has been replaced by a bolt as it broke ad was useless but thats why I said to check with a decent gauge

Your 20 year old foot pump was made when they were built better. Modern ones are rubbish. I went through several foot pumps before giving up on them and going for the digital pump, which has lasted me for years.

The other option if you want a manual pump is the type used for high pressure bike tyres. The type that is an upright pump with a plunger style of handle. Those are very capable of topping up motorbike tyres.

If I am inflating from flat at home I use my little clarke Wiz air, no tank on it but virtually silent and use my regular tyre inflator, it takes a while but as usual not in any kind of rush so no difference to me :thumb:
