TomCharlie Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Hi, I would like some advice and trust me any will be taken on board. I had a CB125 when I was about 18 but then got into cars and now I’m 43 and would love a cafe racer (wife saw a Ducati Scrambler cafe racer and loved it) hence me aiming for something she will approve of but also will need to entice the wife on the bike occasionally so the single seat wouldn’t really work. what bikes would be suitable for a 6’3” man and occasional wife that have a retro cafe racer kind of feel or could be made to look that way. I am completely open to options and I’m competent when it comes to mechanical work and tinkering etc. Help! in the meantime I’m doing my full bike licence while I ponder and then tinkering with the bike to get it looking how I’d like. Any advice taken. Thanks Tom Quote
Old-codger Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, Triumph Bonneville street twin. 1 Quote
bud Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 The Triumph Bonneville would be a good place to start. Been out for years so one for every price range. An absolute ton of aftermarket bits to make it your own. Easy to get on for a passenger, and a comfortable seat. Quote
TomCharlie Posted June 16, 2022 Author Posted June 16, 2022 I like the Royal Enfield and the Bonneville my concern was how comfortable they would be for someone as tall as me. So far my shortlist comprises of the Enfield, Bonneville and Ducati Scrambler but still open to options. Nortons are nice too. Thanks for the help so far. Keep it coming! thank you! Quote
Mickly Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 I love the thought of an ‘occasional’ wife much better than a constant wife or an ex wife 5 Quote

MikeHorton Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 (edited) Or even a kawasaki z650rs just to throw another in there! Edited June 16, 2022 by MikeHorton Quote
Fiddlesticks Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Worth considering the pros and cons of a passenger backrest (or top box). Also what hand holds are available on the back. My bike has a nice comfortable seat for the pillion, but the grab rail behind isn't the most natural position. Also not so good when you're a bit quick off the lights. 1 Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 The Triumph is a much more comfortable seat than the Ducati....unless you enjoy sitting on a breeze block doing 60mph down a bumpy country lane. 2 Quote
