Hi Everyone. New to bikes after chipping away at my better half for 25 years to get her to finally agree that I can learn. I’d like to learn properly and safely on a 125 for a year or two before moving up to a bigger bike. Problem is I’m 6ft 3 and weigh 19 stones. Is there any 125 I could ride comfortably please?

Why not do your DAS? .. Then after you have passed your test you can buy a 250 or 350 if you want until you're ready for something bigger!

Varadero 125. Great bike. Hard to find though; you'll probably have to travel to get one.

If you can afford it, consider DAS. Given you're a big lad, a 125 is going to struggle, and you're going to be safer on mid sized bike like a 500 or 600 than a smaller one. And - even though its the opposite of what you expect - bigger bikes are a lot easier to ride, too.

I would second the DAS comment. Having completed and got yourself a full license you'll have a much better selection of bikes. This doesn't mean that you have to go and get something big, but the option is there.

@Bungleaio might have something to add too.

I've never actually rode a 125 on the road, I struggled with the car park element of the cbt as it was like riding a kids bike. The instructor let me ride an mt07 for the road element which was way easier to ride.

I'd say sack the riding a 125 around for a bit idea off and go straight into DAS after the cbt. As long as you're sensible rather than lairy you'll be fine

Do your CBT then decide if you want a 125cc.  I would say yes but think 6 months not 2 years, if used regularly.
