MV Agusta Brutale 800 - Reliable?

I'm considering a new Brutale 800 but I'm concerned that following their UK dealer network shakeup, the closest dealer to me would be Birmingham, over 100 miles away. I could cope with that for an annual service, but fear that if the bike was unreliable or had niggles, taking it 100+ miles for attention each time would get very old, very quickly.

Has anyone got or had a recent Brutale (or Dragster) who could share their reliability experience?

Am I worrying unnecessarily or is this a reasonable concern that should see me looking at something else?

I had a Dragster 2014 model I also had 2010 Brutale 1078 rr neither caused issues and both where reliable, had the 1078 for two years but the Dragster for one and traded for a Super Duke

Thanks. My head says go for the Street Triple, my heart takes one look at the Brutale and screams "Do it"!

The last one I bought from Bennett’s at Doncaster, who are keeping their dealership, and they were excellent to deal with

Thanks - the MV website only lists a handful of dealers, the most northern one being Birmingham so that's good news about Doncaster.

I had the same head-heart dilemma when I bought my TV; the head said get a Multistrada.

I'm taking the bike into dealer tomorrow for 5 elecrical faults. Not sure how long it will be in, as there's always difficulty getting parts from Italy. To be fair, the bike will be fine to ride once they've repaired the defunct indicator, so I'm fairly sure it will be OK in time for the trip to Germany in September. Would be nice to have the cruise control back before then,

but no regrets. Its such an amazing bike, I forgive it everything.

The dealer is only an hour away, so it's not a big issue for me, but even so I've found a place 10 miles away where the guy specialises in Italian bikes. He did the last service for me. Top bloke.

I nearly pulled the pin on a mv... just depends on if you are devoted and bigger pockets for it? The other thing is quite a few dealers and shops wont buy mvs, so pxs are a more restrictive than most other brands.

sounds silly but most of the time agood independent is better than the dealers to service and fix the bikes, dealrs are better for the oddities parts.

one thing they share with ducatis and italian stuff to keep them at their best thats strange at first but to use them really often, they dont like being sat round in a garage for long and develop problems.
like fine women, fine and dandy on the happy and pampered but misunderstanding and get moody if they feel being neglected!

 Agree with interfence fit's comment!🤓😍

Mvs are cool. My pcp is coming up and I was considering it as I have a dealer very local (alfs worthing).

Except that they're now no longer a dealer for some reason and the nearest is now an hour away. With their history of parts availability this isn't gonna work for me, and it's concerning that their dealership network is (I assume) reducing as opposed to expanding.

I love MVs as much as anyone and if i lived in italy that or ducati wiuld be my bike but here in GB...sorry.

Many Problems they have past related that have kept hindering them.
Most is well known other than to say badly in these regards- organised, managed, money,
Future proofing.

Get rid of all the top level management including the owner, charming and the hearts in the right place not the mind with rhe decisions.

when they do get some money or a new

buyer with huge pockets what do they do??? Just celebrate too much and make another bike that's pretty much the same bar short of a few more parts untested through poor supplier and slap another chunk of money on for good measure rather than just make sure money is put in to the supply and the chain that feels the dealers which will at least sort bikes out a lot quicker when they do need parts.

They are too small and niche and spend far too much r&d on little parts, find suppliers that are mates of mates (you scratch my back I'll scratch yours), most of these suppliers are untested leaving to poor supply or total lack of back up. If the stocked up in the first place it would cost less in the long run...

they have the mentality of we make one bike and that is it anything else is tomorrows problem (kicking the can down the road) not looking at what will that bike needs for its life cycle in parts supply for stock.

spend too much effort and sign off from that rather than actual adult engineering and logical solutions THEN sign off from that.

I work with Italians so i know there mind set... they have a reputation in the business that is just.

there is many others problems but ill leave it there..

When u look at it its abit like nortons mentality...just minus charmed owner and pension.

I've never seen one in the flesh.. not here. not in Italy.

The Italians dont seem to be all that fussed about Italian bikes. aside from Guzzis and pre-chinese Benelli.

What they are absolutely crazy about. oddly. are Triumphs. Hinkley and Meriden.

Any Italian bike. (aside from a Guzzi) parked up will be studiously ignored.

A Man riding a Monster is viewed with some suspicion. it is a womans bike. (I was told with much nods of agreement)

A Triumph parked up will attract a crowd.

I've a Ducati and there's two dealers reasonably close to me. Also a very good independent (Motovation) even closer. Had the bike 5 years and apart from routine servicing has never needed attention. Its done close to 30,000 miles and I've had it since new. So I do think you are perhaps a bit wide of the mark ref Ducati. No idea about MV.

Thats because ducati have changed alot in recent years in business, bikes (some would say less charm and character 🫣😳🤫), practice and ethos so to them they chased others (japs) losing there trademark and more importantly tradition.

Hell maybe on a another view of some other people they Got bored of them?
So the triumphs have got the looks sorted and not cheaped out on appearances and reliability, even the engine has something about it.

Possible its just one of those rose tinted foreign idea like people buying American v8 mustangs and pickups)🫣🤣

While guzzi hasnt changed from the good old days and tradition so thats why they get the bless u my child!

Yes piaggo own them, still italian which counts, the everyday person scooters rule the streets and look trendy. They leave Guzzi to it! Engines and frames are pretty much the same, built the same way, pretty much as many parts possible are Italian or sourced and almost in the same spot  they were before from the beginning .. hell they still have their ancient wind tunnel!! HFC is that!!!
i was sooo ready and set to buy a guzzi, was a toss between the my fave the Griso (still bloody love that bike😍) and the v7 🥰but alas life, maybe the next bike😇
