Took the bike for a spin. Had to be at an early 0830 appointment. On the way out the weather was promising. An hour later it was back to the dismal shite we've been cursed with for the last week. Drizzle and mist. Got home and the poor bike looked as if I'd been mud-plugging. I am so cheesed off with this. Apparently it is going to be be blown away by gale force winds but heavy rain too. Bollocks.

Maybe you need a call back to sea.....

@Simon Davey It's a canoe bag. Fits the DRZ perfectly.

Ah right, I've been looking at the Lomo roll bag, but also the Oxford which is twice the price.

I have a £50 J&S voucher, but I'm loathed to spend £79 on the Oxford bag from J&S, but don't know what else to buy 🤔

I do! Roll on February and I'll be off like a scalded cat. My luck though it'll be Alaska or somewhere equally frigid.

Took the BMW to a hell hole of a shopping centre near me (Rushden Lakes) no way was I going to try and park the car there.

All in all ended up with a 50 mile bimble to do something that should have taken about 7 miles lol. Roads lovely and quiet but that wind is definitely building.

Cheers

Went out to the bike....attempted to get my leg over the seat...found legs still too sore after sailing at the weekend....pondered using something to stand on in order to get on the bike....then realised if I managed to get on it I wouldn't be able to get off it at the other end.....gave up....took more painkillers....opened a bottle of claret.

Now entirely incapable of riding in every sense.

Took it in for service. Bloody cold. Suzuki V-Strom loan bike wasn't very nice in comparison to the Guzzi but given the freezing weather wasn't tempted to play with it to see what it could do. What it couldn't do was keep my hands warm!

Bit of an update. While servicing they identified a warranty issue so I'm stuck with the Strom for the next few days. At least I wasn't planning on going anywhere in particular but I definitely won't be now until Gutsy comes home.

A little bimble to North Wales, quite cold at 3 to 5c, but when I had a sleet shower it dropped down to 2c. There was a heavy frost / remains of light snow still on the fields and the sun shone most of the time so it looked very pretty, however I've got to admit that coming around a corner to see short section of snow in the middle of the road was somewhat disconcerting. Fortunately there two car tyre tracks worth of wet tarmac either side of the snow and enough time & distance to avoid the nastier bits. Then there was the water running off the fields, across the road (or not as the case maybe) and forming puddles or small river running down the side of the road and when I got the where I was going the café had closed. Lastly I dropped into Bala on the way back, Billy no Mates me, only biker in sight. Started to get a bit chilly on the ride back home.

Otherwise it was a bright sunny day and I had a nice ride .

Spent two hours jet washing, cleaning polishing and generally getting rid of the salt. A coat of FS365 and all tucked away but ready for the next winter outing.

Not mine but yesterday I was going stir crazy so took the loaner V-Strom out for a bimble. Although it is lacking somewhat compared to the Guzzi I discovered if you ride it like you stole it it, fun can be had. So by rather thrashing the poor beastie I actually did have a good time. Also remembered why engine speed and road speed should more or less match when slowing down rapidly as a couple of rear end twitches reminded me. Didn't really want to drift round an A38 roundabout. Anyway came home with a smile although it soon started raining again which kind of put a damper on things.

Ah so you See the light! now you don’t have a downer with a perfectly good designed bike as it was intended.👍🏽

Well kind of. But I'd have had more fun doing the same roads on the Guzzi and in more comfort. Of course with all the crap on the roads I'd have then had to spend an hour or so cleaning the salt off too although if the V-Strom was mine I'd have had to do the same too.

Having finished this course at 1000 uk time my original cunning plan was to go for a ride for fun. Ha bloody ha. Dense fog has rather seen that idea binned. Unfortunately though I do have to go out anyway so fog and horrible roads coming up now. I hate this bloody climate.

Decided that cold, rain and fog wouldn't stop me going to the beach, having a cup of coffee, and a slice of ginger cake.

Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Having got back from the north (by car) I went out for a good thrash. Really glad I'm getting new tyres tomorrow as on these greasy roads I had a few squeaky bum moments and the least said about white lines the better. The Pirellis were great when new but much less so now especially on these greasy roads. Hopefully the Contis will be an improvement.

A pleasant ride out and then tucked back into the lock-up ready for tomorrow's red weather warning. This really is the calm before the storm.

Went out nice and early and clocked up 120 miles on various roads around the Wirral, then came home, thoroughly cleaned the bike and have put it to bed for the day.

While I'm sure that some will have an opinion on Tru-Tension Monkey Juice bike cleaner, I find it to be pretty good for my needs and, on top of that, it leaves my bike smelling rather beautiful.

Never would have thought I would refer to a bike as smelling beautiful.  I think I need a strong Coffee and to watch something violent to bring me back to normal man-hood and away from thinking about bike-smelling-good-ness.

God I love the smell of my bike, especially when it's hot..

A little perverse maybe...

It’s good stuff, clean and Smelling nice is good 👍🏽
just be careful which you use with cats about as the some are repelled by it 👍🏽and others attracted to it like a magnet/ upset you and replace it with their minging Waz all over it!🤬🤮, once they do it once they have a mind set of a midge…

Oxford do mint, another company does orange, a wheel sealer I have left is cherry, detailer is a pleasant one but cant nail down what it was and gt86 is my favourite industrial smell.

Garages , i have to wonder towards the Tyre racks.

Ducatis dealers are best for combination of (rubber, oil, fuel, grease, plastics and cleaness) for new bike smell.
