Looks brilliant, just bought a darned Garmin though.

I used my Garmin XT last weekend for the first time. I bought it last year after getting frustrated (that’s the polite term) with my Motorrad Navigator IV. It’s really rather good - a big improvement on my previous satnavs.

Somebody should definitely buy that and make a review for me. Cheers.

I moved from phone navigation on to a Garmin zumo after the phone overheating several times in south of France and Spain

Dedicated satnav doesn't have that problem

If its the Garmin XT, you made the right choice IMO.

Got the Xt2 on a SBS Valentine offer, £100 off, I think it was.

I'm very pleased with it.

I always have the feeling that using a phone for everything is a bit like putting all your eggs in one basket.

You're probably right. I got to Calais week before last and found the nav app on my phone wouldn't give me a route to anywhere. Had to fiddle with APN settings before it would play ball. Made me realise that I didn't have a plan B.
