Well this should be interesting...

The little person in the box told me i had to introduce myself. So here i am, introducing myself and my latest great idea... :)

Back in 1991 i passed my CBT on my old DT50MX, eventually progressing to a TZR125L, passed my part two (things have changed somewhat havent they???) and then on to a series of poorly made choices including an RD250LC, XJR400, ZZR400 and a GSX750F teapot, alongside several houses, a divorce, kids and other such daft ideas.

Up until recently i though i'd had it with bikes until i got the opportunity to land a 1990 CBR1000F, in "shell suit" red, white and blue. Yay. Only it needs a bit of love and some legal paperwork. Like an MOT (last one was 14 years ago!).

Im 49, i should probably know better, but hey, who cares right? :D

It'll probably be on the road next year after some much needed love and attention...

Welcome aboard!

Don`t forget to keep us posted with photos as the restoration gets going.

Looks tidy enough hope that extensive bodywork doesn`t hide any nasty surprises.

Cheers

Ian

When i manage to get it home and safe in the garage, i'll start getting pics. Its on 47k (miles) so i imagine i'll find a few gremlins along the way! Its fairly clean but we all know how that goes!! :D

Welcome, chap over the road from me had one of those, good bike. He did have a little job with the exhaust I seem to remember, some convoluted collection box thing going on. Good bikes though you should have fun playing with that.

Welcome and nice bike 👍🏽,Who’s in the box we should thank by the way?

Heh, the little box that pops up when you register, tells you to go and introduce yourself.  :D

Thanks guys. Just in the process of getting her home, as she's currently residing in a garage about 8 miles from me, in a house thats just been sold. Its taken me a few weeks to clear some space in the garage to home her (i keep calling it a HER, suppose i better think of a name for her!) and to convince the family that it'll all be fine honest guv'.....Ive just read the "hairsy CBR600 restoration thread" to get me motivated to doing it properly.

Welcome. I’m sure there’s plenty of mechanically knowledgeable peeps on here to give support (not me. I know nothing other than how to pay someone to do that stuff).

Oh, the CBR1000 - I always liked them and now I’m trying to remember why I never got round to buying one.

Well, she's finally home.

After all the brakes needing some "gentle persuasion" to let go and some air in the tyres, she got in the van and home with no complaints.

Parked up awaiting some time off and a full inspection, brake rebuild, some love and detailing..cue the music..😂
