Can anyone recommend a front paddock stand that will fit my 2006 Fireblade?

There seems to be many different types out there and I’m worried I’ll order the wrong one…. Unless they all fit?!

I don’t have front spools, hoping I won’t need them.

I think the only issue might be if you have radially mounted brake callipers.

Generally, they'll all fit, but the odd one won't if you have radially mounted callipers.

I bought this, and it goes on my ZZR1200, lifts it with ease. It's superb quality, I'm glad I didn't spend twice the money on a branded one.

I wanted to go halves with an Abbastand with my son in law but apparently his BMW K1300 doesn't fit them.😡. We use chain blocks and jacks instead.

Depends what you want to do when you have the bike off the ground. I use one of the Warrier type lifts which are ok for cleaning the wheel etc. They don't feel the most stable if you were putting any weight on a spanner getting the front wheel spindle out, for instance. For more stability I use axle stands.

It’s more for winter storage really and maintenance. Taking forks off when needed, or wheel changes etc. I don’t really have the space for anything more sophisticated.

I do my forks with a jack under the engine.

That's a good idea. Ale a stand that lifts the bike on the frame not the wheel 🙂🙂

I bet someone else already made it

I'd go for the headstock variety if I was you. Something like this is cheap enough. Check which pin size you need to be sure and there is a way to go through this site so TMBF gets something. Check with the mods for that bit.

That`s very similar to the Oxford one and the 5 pin sizes suppkied would cover most bikes that I can think of.

Cheers

I’m all for supporting the forum but that’s double the price I can get one for on eBay…. Yes, I know you get what you pay for, but for how often I’ll be using it doesn’t seem worth it.

That's £70 (69.99) If you can find a headstock stand for half that money on Ebay please supply a link. That's the cheapest I've seen and through SBS so it'll be guaranteed.

Yes same as pretty much Ian.

Resurrecting this thread to save starting a new one.

I have some SBS gift vouchers to use, as I wanted an Abba superbike stand. I've since found out they don't sell them 😳

So ... do I stick with my original plan, and get it elsewhere, or is a paddock stand sufficient?  I want to do my own basic maintenance,  but nothing like valve checks etc. (I was once described on here as suffering from 'mechanic panic' and it's very apt).

My Versys has the bobbins fitted front and rear, but are paddock stands stable enough for wheel removal and caliper removals?

The Abba stand would need the extra plate under it due to the bikes height, but looks easier to use and less likely to drop the bike on me.

Thanks for your input.

I have paddock stands and an ABBA stand.
it is possible to remove the wheels using paddock stands, but using the ABBA stand is easier and more secure.

+1 for the Abba stand and in the future if you ever get another bike just the bobbins to change.

As an aside you can use the Abba stand on a workbench which I find very helpful.

I can't use the ABBA stand as it won't fit my Bobber. I have paddock stands and a lift which fits underneath the Bobber.

I find that I never use the paddock stands. If you're working on brakes, suspension etc then paddock stands are very limiting.

Thanks guys.

The Abba stand it is then. They're manufactured not far from me, so I'll go direct and pick one up.

Thanks again 👍
