Mawsley Posted March 6 Posted March 6 There’s no way I can afford the stupid money they’re asking for a new bike, but I thought I might grab a shirt while I was at the most local dealership. Bwahahahahahahahahahahahanhahahahahahninetyfivefrikkenpoundshahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Like who actually takes leave of their senses and pays prices like this? 1 3 3 Quote
ChrisBiggsUK Posted March 6 Posted March 6 For that sort of price I'd expect a 'happy ending' to the purchase. And not provided by some big burly biker either. 4 Quote
Capt Sisko Posted March 6 Posted March 6 (edited) By the time Trump's tariff war is over it'll cost a lot more. 25% from China to the USA, 25% USA to UK if not more. Grab yourself a bargain soon! Edited March 6 by Capt Sisko 1 Quote
S-Westerly Posted March 6 Posted March 6 A lot of manufacturers do the same. Stick a BMW, Guzzi or Ducati badge on something and double the price. You do wonder who buys the kit though. Quote
bud Posted March 6 Posted March 6 When it is obviously manufactured by another company. Why wouldn't you buy it from the original manufacturer? Though Harley do well a lot of overpriced t-shirt and jackets. I was watching a documentary once. And they reckon that Harley Davidson has the second best advertising campaign. It is only second to coke. And I could quite easily believe that. How many people wear their gear that no nothing about motorcycles? 1 Quote
Bender Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Funny ain't it, but if you put helly Hanson, north face or arc'teryx on it and it's a bargain and they are probably all made in china No one makes you buy it..... 1 Quote
skyrider Posted March 8 Posted March 8 A lot of years ago i got a free yamaha jacket with my new yam thought that was ok 1 Quote
Mawsley Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 Got sent an invite to go to the launch of the 2025 models...which look amazingly like the 2024 models but with even fewer parts for more money. Out of all the bike brands, I can see them going to the wall over the next year or so. Trump's insane self-inflicted tariff war is going to turn unaffordable machines into showroom dust collectors. Still, great news for the resale value of my secondhand bike 1 1 Quote

MachKneel Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I must admit, I am an ex-Harley owner, and when I bought mine from Belfast HD, I bought it brand new ordered in then had to spend circa £2-2.5k to give it that Harley sound by way of Stage 1 tune. If I ever go back, it will be buying a cheaper second hand one. Still love the look of some of their older bikes but they have fallen by the wayside so much. I can't see them being able to keep their head above water, specifically in the UK at least. 2 Quote
Egon247 Posted March 15 Posted March 15 When i was at the italian car day, brooklands, i looked at an Alfa jacket. was something stupid like £120 for a soft shell with a badge. So i bought some iron on badges, a £30 softshell and solved the problem. 1 1 Quote
