  2. is it fuel or oil its not uncommon to get oil mist in there from the crank case breather which can smell a bit like petrol although if you feel the consistency its much thicker

    Carb needle help

The jet needle and needle jet affects carburetion from 1/4 thru 3/4 throttle. The jet needle is a long tapered rod that controls how much fuel can be drawn into the carburetor venturi. The thinner the taper, the richer the mixture. The thicker the taper, the leaner the mixture since the thicker taper will not allow as much fuel into the venturi as a leaner one. The tapers are designed very precisely to give different mixtures at different throttle openings. Jet needles have grooves cut into the top. A clip goes into one of these grooves and holds it from falling or moving from the slide. The clip position can be changed to make an engine run richer or leaner, If the engine needs to run leaner, the clip would be moved higher. This will drop the needle farther down into the needle jet and cause less fuel to flow past it. If the clip is lowered, the jet needle is raised and the mixture will be richer.
  6. Just do her mates and I'm sure she will get the message!
  7. Even better mate bring it round and I will ride past you on it Looks good mate
  8. Yeah that's spot on where it steps back a gasket sits in there I have posted on another forum to get the measurements as I don't have access to my bike at the min
  9. No its suzuki's own design of a slipper clutch all it does is release pressure on the plates when off the throttle so it slips a bit stopping the rear locking and also makes the clutch lighter for town riding but it also makes the clutch grab out of the blue which is a bit scary If anything it will reduce wear as you have more controll
  10. Standard would be best I recon Even with the standard pipes and an open end can you get a massive flat spot at 4 to 6 k after that they are great I know I have had two of them
  11. With the way my days off are going err maybe the year after All I need is a spring and it can be put back together which won't take long I had all the swing arm off yesterday and put back on within a few hours Still won't be ready for the road though I want to pull the clutch out and weld the center to stop the back torque limiter working as its crap
  12. Good point there tango but with it having downpipes off a different bike we don't know how its running anyway I bet that quill end can is a standard size and bore for most suzuki's so one of the same length and bore won't matter For all we know the bike could have been set up for that system before and it might run spot on but it could easily be the other way I think the main is to get a end can on it get it running and on a dyno to really know for sure
  13. Measure between the bolt centres and measure the inlet on the exhaust How come you have a 4 bolt on yours and not the 3 what is the system off do you know? You could always keep an eye out for a full standard system for your bike If you get me the measurements I can check it against my exhaust for you mine is 4 bolt and they are all the same for tls, tlr, sv1000 and hayabusa
  14. What bike is it? And you can get a new sleeve put on the old cracked one ask megawatt he should be able to sort it
  15. The shock won't have a spring on as its a separate spring and shock on mine but the bike will be getting a spring It mounts to the right of the shock
  16. after much fettling its in http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r71/stu_m_photos/IMG_8262.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r71/stu_m_photos/IMG_8261.jpg i have sent a nice letter of complaint to bitubo about the rear shock i get off them and they are picking it up on monday to be repaired hopefully under warranty so that will be getting sold on ebay
  17. If you repack at do it loosely it will take up more of the noise too tight and it will be louder
  18. does it wear on what they call the shoulders? about an inch in from the edge and look like its worn more then the rest ? if so it can be normal depending on your riding style and most if not all tyres will wear the same

as already said post a few pix it sounds to me like its not got the correct fixings on to hold it in place or it needs some adjustment
  20. if anyone is coming to hull to do the humber bridge and it means crossing it wait till after april as they are reducing the bridge toll
  21. dont be silly everyone makes mistakes regardless of what you ride or drive and we all know that
  22. if you need a new lid pop to your local heine gericke they have some right bargains at this time of the year and for a little more then £40 you will get a good lid and the staff there will make sure if fits properly as fit is the most important part
  23. all im going to say is its your life if you want to trust it in a lid from lidl then go for it!
  24. personally I don't think he deserved a prison sentence either he has lost his job, ministry of transport would have taken his PCV licence off him straight away so wont be allowed to drive a PCV vehicle again a lengthy time doing community service would have been a better option in my opinion get him paintinf cycle lanes for a few weeks yes he could have killed the guy but he didn't but then what could the cyclist do to defuse the situation rather then make it worse he could have easily not had words with the drive just because he passed him a little close he could have not rode directly in front of the bus he could have not swerved to the right as the bus tried to pass him they are both to blame and both should be punished cyclists are the worst road users of all
  25. No one said he deserved it but I will put my wages on that he was been more then annoying! The cyclist should have at least been done for obstructing a public service vehicle as well as road rage
