  1. you can put as much oil on your disks as you like as long as you dont leave it on!!! clean it off with brake cleaner and dont get any oil on the pads as it will soak in to them a lot of new brake disks have a light coating of oil to stop them rusting in storage as they could be on a shelf for years your supposed to clean them with brake cleaner before fitting
  2. i bet you used fabric conditioner?? get some nikwax wash in treatment and it will make them waterproof again as for cleaning leathers ive done it once or twice a bike mag did a test on used leathers ones that had been cleaned and leather conditioners used and ones that hadnt and the ones that had been looked after scored better points in the tests
  3. Rather yet then me! I wouldn't go near them with a flap disc one false move and you could end up having to fork out for new disks You need to know how bad the rust is just surface rust and you will find it will come off just by moving the bike and using the brakes any worse and I would look at replacing as they will be all pitted Ask the seller for a pic
  4. the down shifting could be down to clutch wear not sure on the clunking im sure one of my work mates has the virago i will ask him and see if he's is the same oh and welcome from another hull member see you at seaways sometime?
  5. so im not the only one who cant stand football then!!
  6. i remember a few years back a £300 hein gericke suit getting miles higher score in a test then a £1800 alpinestars suit!!!! its not all about the name on the suit or the price it is get looking for some reviews online like i said in the other thread RST is well worth every penny as is hein gericke stuff IMO the top end stuff is well over priced you could get a made to measure for about £600

    paddock stands

yup and unfortunately its my bike i would love to be able to get both wheels off the deck would make some job easy as my front stand can get in the way

    paddock stands

Not on all bikes! Because mine has 1 pipe running from the front and its off centre you can't lift off it and the sump is no good because it just lifts the full bike up!! I made a stand which works the same as the abba stand and works great
  10. RST is decent stuff i had a suit a few years back too 3 crashed before i had to get rid i got a frank thomas one after that as i couldnt get hold of the right size and needed leathers as i was itching to get out i wish i had waited now
  11. lend us your big tent wanted to take my mams trailer tent but will have the bike on trailer
  12. fair point but the last thing you want is someone getting confused with what system each group is using and get it wrong ideally we all need to have a chat and decide on a system and all groups use that then it makes no difference if members swap groups half way through a ride etc
  13. think we should forget about what types of system each ride will be using until the day then each group can have a debrief on the day exchange contact numbers etc etc

    New Brake Pads

carbone lorraine sbk3 is what i use and are really good not too good that they will warp your disks

    Cleaning forks

yup the fork stanchions not sure on price but you could be talking maybe £120 might be cheaper to look for replacement stanchions
  20. Stu

    tyre bruise

its all the natural oils in the tyre coming to the surface when a tyre does this it looses its ability to grip as well as it could do but you will not notice on the road you would only notice if you was racing its nothing to worry about

    Cleaning forks

if your talking the chrome that slides inside the forks then you cant polish them with autosol or anything like that they are chrome plated and you will start to remove it causing more wear eventually once they are pitted they need polishing out filling then a rechrome putting a clear coat on is a waste of time too as its not hard enough to withstand the sliding action of the forks and any stones will just chip it in an instant
  22. hmmm all these members with VCDS but you all live too far away
  23. just dont forget the sun cream
