  1. Ooh, you're Angry JoeMan on YouTube! Good response by the way. I watched a video where it proved pivot steering didn't work after the accident. Should have done my research! Also, I'm back at work Monday - I'm getting lifts from someone who lives nearby, and they have found me sitting-down jobs, so I can finally earn some money again! Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I also stopped using the crutches around the house yesterday - I can just about walk like I'm severely handicapped without them! But will hopefully get better soon. Seeing physio tomorrow.
  2. Thanks, borrowing some dvds and a booklet for DAS from a guy my husband knows who did it earlier this year. I look forward to getting back on my bike and increasing my confidence and skills with more training. I'm well on the road to recovery, just taking aaaages is all! Back to work next week whether the doctor says I can or not - if I ever change job in the future I will only go for one that has sick pay!
  3. Haha, I'm not sure why I did that, I held the clutch in when cornering for all of the 5 months I'd been riding, didn't realise . So that can't have helped with me losing control either. I was attempting pivot steering, took the corner really badly, went up on the grass - bike landed on it safe & sound, I hit the road. I don't really have anywhere off-road I can practice around here unfortunately. Not blaming the video, just advising that it's a good idea not to try out techniques learnt from random people on YouTube if you're struggling with anything - like I said, it may work for them, might not work for you. I also have a very different bike to the guy who made the video. I've ranted on there and RebelRach has too! It was silly of me really, I just thought it'd help. I was thinking of doing the DAS with BikeSense - they're not as far out as CamRider are for me, and I have heard good things about them. I had a great trainer with CamRider though, defo recommend them. Altho I really enjoy biking, I've never really felt that confident - I will really benefit from more training!
  4. Hello lovelies Apologies for harking on about my accident (I've been sofa-bound for ages & v bored!), but I'm hoping to save someone else from being a dozey cow like me... Please PLEASE heed my advice: if you have only done your CBT and want further advice on how to ride better, INVEST in more training from your official motorbike trainers or do your full licence. Do NOT follow instructional videos on YouTube from random bikers telling you what works for them - because it might not work for you. Or even worse they might just be talking out of their a*seholes. Also, don't be stupid and wear your safety gear. I'd have come off so, SO much worse without all of it. there's no excuse - bought all of it v.cheap at BMF show. I ride a heavy 125 cruiser, and found I often struggled with cornering. 1 month before getting married we moved house further from my work involving travelling on winding, badly surfaced country roads. 2 weeks before I got married I came off on a corner for a number of reasons, but mainly cos I was trying a different cornering technique I'd seen on a YouTube video the night before and lost control. I have really suffered for my naiivety: been in a lot of pain, I spent my wedding day on crutches, elevating my leg, ice packs and wearing a compression stocking - not sexy stockings!! 7 weeks later still recovering, still missing my bike like crazy, the physios still can't determine what I've done other than 1 torn ligament and torn muscle (the NHS are cheap sods and won't just do an MRI scan!). I considered doing some further training with CamRider to improve my skills before this happened - never having driven a car or rode a motorbike before & not having any biker mates to ride with I felt I could do with more training - but it cost £100 (as much as my CBT) so opted against it. Now I wish I'd have just done the DAS and got my full license instead. I definitely want a more powerful bike sooner rather than later anyway. I hope my experience may prevent others from making stupid mistakes too. Be safe and take care
  5. Before and after de-rusting pics pleeease! I promise to do it too when I'm able to get to a B&Q and hammerite mine too. So you just rub it down with white spirit then paint it? It may be worth me buying some online and doing it while I'm off sick actually while I have some time to myself dear god I miss my bike - every time I start her up ({so batt doesn't go flat) I just want to hop on and drive off into the sunset
  6. Okay, looked up powder coating No way Jose! My bike with the repairs was cheap as hell and so was NearOn's, and not keeping it for that long - no point. Stripping and Hammeriting all the way! Well, when I'm back on my bike again!
  7. Oops, re-wrote this post below, spelling mistakes! Waaaah!
  8. Oooh, very interesting, thanks! Got some rust under my bike, over 10 years old & thought about painting it at some point. Yeah please do upload the piccies
  9. Get a folder map clipboard-thing and you're off! http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k96/spastic_potato/BikerMoos%20Piccies/knowledge-Scooter-on-road1.jpg Are you going on your own? Sounds coool - how are you gonna do it all? Haven't heard much about motorbike travels - like where you stay, how you choose your destination, how you get there and back etc. Good luck Team Fortress Dude
  10. I am very disappointed with this thread. Here was me thinking you were on about BackStreet Boys
  11. Haha, cheers! Can't wait to get back on the saddle
  12. I'd say I get an adrenaline rush cos it's unbelievably fun not cos it's dangerous. I feel nervous whenever I feel I'm in danger! still quite a newbie tho!
  13. So you've all done accidental things that have been awesome... but have many of you have done accidental things that have turned out to be pants? Every time someone says they've hurt themselves on...or indeed off a motorbike, they make it sound like it was cool and use it as bragging rights. I won't be boasting about my month of crapness so far to anyone! Oh well, it's certainly been an unforgettable honeymoooon in that sense! Lol
  14. Ah, I have been enlightened! Cheers Btw, loving everyone's stories
  15. How the feck have I done that, I chose 2 people.... Oh, it says I've paid twice for 2 people. Dunno how that happened, guessing Firefox crashing on me did it cos I didn't click more than once. Oh massive hairy balls!! Is there a simple way to fix this or shall I call PayPal or something? Sorry!
  16. That's certainly something to work torwards, tho your list is looking quite impressive so far...or not so impressive...I'm not sure hahaha! You certainly get points for experience!!! Btw, what's a stoppie??
  17. Just did everything you shouldn't do when losing control on a corner, went onto a grassy bank and currently got an ice pack on my knee, a heat pack on my calf, and begging for an MRI scan tommorrow t see if I need surgery...and still in disbelief this is our honeymooooon, lol! Oh well, at least my bike came off better than me...if only my bike had sick pay though! I didn't do a skiddy tho - anywhere! A bit of pee almost came out when laughing at a post in the adult secton earlier tho hahaha!
  18. I just paid for 2 tickets, 1 for moo, 1 for my shiney new hubby! Not sure if it went thru tho, Firefox closed when I completed the transaction for some reason - Paypal doesn't show the most recent payments so will check it tomorrow. If it went thru, can you put me Louise Trueman and Ollie Trueman on the list pretty please? Can't wait - I'll defo make it this year!!
  19. I'm sure you could put her bikini across your bike, you might want to get her permission first tho. I hear girls don't like it when their negligee goes missing, they tend to assume the worst... ..tho maybe she might enjoy the idea of you in her bikini? You never know
  20. Teee heee heeee........BIKINI!
  21. After my accident at 30mph landing on my leather jacket it only had dull scratches on it, and despite my cow-love, I will only buy leather in the future!
