  1. What about where you bought it from????
  2. Don't get me started about bus drivers....cutting me up....not indicating before pulling out...
  3. Don't use that vile silicon stuff unless you are really desperate...have a go at making one...it might take you more than one attempt but think of the satisfaction when you have achieved it... http://www.classicbikersclub.com/articles/2011-12/gasket-teach
  4. It shouldn't be that hard to make a new one...often a cornflakes packet side will do....just mark and cut very carefully...
  5. I actually put mine in my inside jacket pocket....but Im going to try it in my tank bag...
  6. you may need to take the carb off and check the float level as it sounds like you are running out of fuel at revs...fuel starvation...just read somewhere about a worn float needle causing a problem..
  7. Hi Rennie, Went back and checked as you said again, fuel is clean and fresh, starts when choke is off but not when it is on. Guys, I have however found a tiny hole in the petrol pipe to the carb, after taping this up it is allowing me to run around in 1st and 2nd ( only tried it in the yard ). However the engine was extremely warm, took the spark plug out and it was carbon black, does this point to being to rich? The fuel screw is out about 4 turns, but if I put it in any further I either get a really rough idle ( both cold and warm ) or it doesnt start, this is will adjusting the idle screw to compensate for idle RPM Thanks guys again, you are all helping me learn and get this death trap running! Yes a black plug is usually a sign of an engine running too rich.....but checking after tick over can also do that....an engine needs to be warm and run at higher revs than tick over before removing and checking plug. The screw that makes it run rough...get the engine warm...make sure the choke is fully off...the screw it in until in runs rough then back it out 3/4 turn...
  8. Thanks Tango Oil looks fine, new air filter, plenty of fuel, fuel is getting down to carb alright, throttle slide moving nicely. The tank breather, is that the hollow rod between the bottom of the tank up to the refiller cap? Or is it the vacuum part of the fuel valve? Sorry fairly knew to this but I am a quick study Without a tank breather, as fuel is used in a tank it will create a depression or vacuum above it which will eventually stop fuel flowing. A tank breather allows air to flow in and stop this hapening...its ususally just a pin hole somewhere in the filler cap.. If you want to see what I mean just get a 1/2 litre beer bottle (empty it first) fill it with water and put your thumb over the neck. Turn it upside down and gently let your thumb off to allow the water to flow out...eventually it should stop but there will still be water left in the bottle...
  9. I'm going to nominate the stupid old cow in the black Smart Roadster that stopped at the roundabout, looked at me coming from her right then pulled across in front of me causing me to barke and swerve... Second nomination goes to the idiot 300 yds later who pulled onto my side of the road to overtake a cyclist leaving me next to no room...
  10. You would normally fit a new Flasher unit thats specifically for LED indicators as their power consumption is different
  11. I personally doubt if it will give an appreciable power upgrade but you will certainly have to inform your insurance company...
  12. To be honest that sounds remarkably like a very bad earth somewhere....classic signs...lights dimming or going off..
  13. It sounds like a duff connector block ...

  20. This is a review from this year... The camping at Heathfield has recently had a face lift and it is a very nice and flat pitch with capacity for about 30 tents. Prices are reasonable and the washing/toilet facilities are very good. There is a large presence of static caravans but the camping is on its own in a separate field. There is a shop on site which sells the basics at reasonable prices. There's no play area but there is a recreational hall. Incidentally further up the road is Westfield and Topfield where there is more camping, but the facilities aren't as good. The pitches aren't as flat but it is much quieter. There's also a section where you can camp along the river and have an open fire. The surrounding area has tons to do and we managed to pack in loads. There are walks all around the area to suit all fitness levels. I particularly like the short walk to the Bridge Inn that's about 1/4 mile away. The 1. 5 mile walk into Pateley Bridge along the Beck then along the River Nidd is lovely and mostly off road. If you manage to find the Sportmans Arms (another pub) it's well worth a 3/4 mile walk to. Although Pateley Bridge is a small town there are 2 very good butchers, along with 2 small supermarkets, 2 Indian restaurants, 2 fish and chip shops, 2 Grocers, a very good bakers, hardware store, pet store and a deli. There's also a music shop, 2 banks, estate agents, charity shop, and excellent wine merchants where he'll try to match you to a good bottle of wine in your price range, which he has done for us several times. They're all friendly and sell quality produce. There's even a Japanese/Chinese restaurant but I haven't been in and it receives mixed reviews. There are several places to eat, but I can recommend the Granary cafe. Excellent (proper) cappuccinos and home cooked food. I would particularly recommend the Cheese scone, Wensleydale cheese and onion chutney. The oldest sweetshop in Britain can also be found here where they sell just about any sweet you can imagine or that has ever been made! There's an excellent council run swimming pool between the campsite and Pateley Bridge. In Pateley Bridge there is a great little kids play area right next to the bowling green where you can enjoy a rather excellent ice cream (if not a tad expensive) sold from a van next to the play area. Further afield is How Stean Gorge where you can explore caves and a gorge! There's Brimham Rocks where you are free to explore some unusual rock formations. Parking is a touch expensive but free for National Trust members. Darley Mill at Dacre Bank is worth a visit. The restaurant is very good and it sells home furnishing, cookware, gifts, sweats chocolate etc over 3 floors of a disused mill which still has a working water wheel. There's a Smokery and Ice Cream parlour on the way to Fewston & Swinsty reservoirs but it's quite pricey although does provide quality produce. You are able to walk round most of the reservoirs in the region which makes for some beautiful scenery. Also try Coldstone Cut. A working quarry viewing area with a bizarre art installations, that's essentially a small street at the top of a hill! Can't wait to go back as there's still loads to do: Stump Cross Caverns, walk along river Wharfe at Grassington, take the kids Trout fishing at at Kilnsey Wood Park. Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Deer Park.
  21. I'm sorry but I disagree Bob....working out what the chain is doing and when could be really useful...but it's ok...I'll just stop posting...
  22. No offence mate but I think these are better... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stanley-084811-Locking-Pliers-Straight/dp/B000X2GJEQ/ref=sr_1_4?s=diy&ie=UTF8&qid=1374851404&sr=1-4&keywords=mole+wrench
  23. Not quite....when you pull the clutch in the chain changes from drive to over run so instead of pulling using the front sprocket it is being pushed by the rear sprocket...
