  1. Sounds like you've done a sound job! Deep breath, relax, and enjoy the bike... shouldn't be any need to worry So that's what those are called! Yeah, I use them for mine too
  2. Or just cover it in loctite and duct tape
  3. *disclaimer: RantMachine don't know shit* Well, if the washer is engaged with the splines, the nut is properly torqued, and at least one side of the washer is folded over the nut nice and snug, I can't see it being a problem! *disclaimer: RantMachine don't know shit*
  4. Like this, if you aren't sure what Joe means - the washer should have little 'teeth' that engage with corresponding teeth on the output shaft, preventing the washer from rotating separately from the shaft. http://www.sportbikes.net/forums/attachments/zzr-600/228233d1389988570-2007-zzr-600-front-sprocket-20131230_170823.jpg
  5. Tell me about it! Had enough bad experiences that even now I think I've found a good one, I find myself expecting to be f**ked over every time I leave something with them! Shame that so many bad eggs ruin it for the decent ones like the place I'm using these days (touch wood), seriously not cool! Who do you use Rant? Or what I really should ask is who have you stopped using? I'm a bit clueless when it comes this kind of stuff. Well there was a place in Bedford that I bought my first bike from, they were utter turds... Used Cambridge motorcycles and was not impressed. Very friendly, but not impressed by the work they did, especially considering they claim to have a trained BMW specialist... misdiagnosed a collapsed bell crank bearing, mucked up my Scotoiler when replacing the inlet manifold, and when I got them to re-thread my sump plug because the previous owner had knackered the thread... they over torqued the plug when they put it back in. Like, the torque value for the F650GS sump was about 25nm and I couldn't get it off even with my 300nm torque wrench. Had to get them to come and collect the bike in order to remove it for me (clutch was playing up at the time so couldn't ride it there), and they still charged me for the pleasure. And mangled the plug in the process, so I had to buy a new one. And the service was almost always really slow with few/no progress updates, had to chase them constantly. Lots of promises of calls, but the calls never actually happened. Also lots of excuses about parts availability causing delays, which I found funny as I never had a problem with parts when fixing that bike up - and I used the same supplier, Motorworks. These days I'm using Motoworks on Histon Road, down the little side street opposite the petrol station and Aldi/Iceland. Not had anything too heavy done by them yet, but so far the prices have always been good and the service ultra fast. Had to get them to bail me out when a fork rebuild went awry, and they did way more work than originally requested while staying within the quoted price - absolute life saver as I was due to move house the next day and would've been hard pushed to finish the job myself. All younger lads and they seem pretty passionate about what they do, which I take as a good sign.

  7. I did a degree in a borderline useless subject, somehow managed to get a job out of it (after a few years in retail), and then started retraining as something almost equally useless! Not many options with my general lack of competence or marketable skills Remember that doing what you love is great and all but if what you love happens to come with low pay and minimal job security then you might just be trading one load of grief for another. Work to live not live to work, for certain! Don't undervalue the importance of having a job that lets you consistently afford a quality of life you're happy with, even if the work is a bit poop. Now on the topic of poop... where do we sign up for those dog shit sculpting jobs that Joe85 mentioned? That sounds like the next logical career progression for me
  8. Name and shaaaaaaame, the service they're giving you takes the piss!
  9. This is literally the same thread where the name was decided. Like, go back one page and the entire explanation is there. And now it's on this page too! Good times
  10. Wait, what? People who own Fazers may well have a screw loose or be off their nut? Well, now that you mention it... And I can certainly think of a few who lost their nuts, but I don't think it was a dealer that took them
  11. And don't forget to name and shame the dealership for future reference
  12. OH LOOK updating something made it not work properly...

  14. Have you seen it somewhere before then? Well I certainly have this feeling of deja-vu, but I can't think where I would have seen it...
  15. Wow, that joke seems awfully familiar...
  16. Someone (Glorian?) once recommended spraying it liberally onto a rag then wiping it on, I tried that last time around and it worked wonders! No hassle with masking off tyres and brakes, certainly makes the experience less miserable. I still sprayed the engine a little, just to make sure it got in all the nooks and crannies. Obviously there's a bit more waste due to the rag soaking some of it up, but I value my spare time more than I value my ACF50!
  17. ACF50. Or not riding it. Depends whether you ask Bob or Stu
  18. Winter coincides with the knobbly bits on my tyres growing rather short and rounded, so I'm toying with the idea of getting the winter version of Heidenau Scout K60's as a replacement... not 100% sure it's worth it though. If the roads really get that bad, I could just ride to work through the fields
  19. Haven't set up the Google drive yet
  20. What, the ones the photographer took? Nah, it'll be a little while before I get photos back from him. I have pretty much zero pictures so far! Need to get on with hassling people for them
  21. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH hey Rant! Rant you seen this?? Now i will buy no bike just to spite you Suuuuuuuuure
  22. Really glad to hear it's all sorted
  23. Thanks again everyone!
  24. Cheers all!
