1. This is how all my efforts at home workshop go. In fact, reading this and I can feel my blood pressure rising and an clammy feeling of fear and loathing creep over the shadows my soul. Sorry, that's not very helpful.
2. Do they really, Deso?? I'd imagined that was a myth put about disenchanted examinees. Keenrider Never of heard of failing for being too fast on the slow manoeuvres; sounds really rough. I'd put a complaint in, even if all you get out of it is a free retest.
3. Last time I took a test ride, you needed the licence itself, but that was before the online checks came in. You might want to get yourself a few check codes from DVLA in case they want to check out your points. Also, some places won't do test rides for people with new licences, under a year or sometimes two years old . Better phone ahead, I guess.
4. Yeah, I'm dandy. Went off and rode another 100 miles round Suffolk after that, so the bike can't be too bad either.
5. I've had a **** of a last 24hrs and an hour's sleep in the last 36 - hope that meets with your approval, not that I reckon it matters a jot. That rough, Maws. Hugs by return.
6. First some pubs: The Crown, Acton The Red Lion, Great Sampford And one from East Anglia: The Fox Inn at Fressingfield
7. Nobess of the day: the charming young lady who hooshed into me from behind and knocked me off. I was in a queue waiting to join a roundabout, had to stop at the line, and then I heard a CLUNK and the next thing I knew, I was thinking, "why is my bike on the the floor?" And when I hopped off, she there was front of her up nuzzling into my rear wheel. To be fair, she couldn't have been nicer about it all, apologising for England and saying how she wasn't looking. I was fine, and the bike seemed to be fine (apart from a scratch on the crash bars, which is kind of what there for anyway). Then some kind chap stopped to help me pick the bike up, and I rode off.
8. We'll my current insurer, Hastings, won't insure it without 2 years NCB and it being stored in a locked garage, notwithstanding that my current bike lives in the drive. Apparently they can refer it to the underwriter, but given that other quotes from comparison sites are triple the current cost, I think I'll be parking this idea for a while! * groan * This had been about the most exciting thread I've read all year ... but what a flat squib of an ending. I feel so cheated.
9. Debut appearance from bonio George and Dragon, Eaton Socon The Coach House, St. Neot's The Anchor, Little Paxton The Bell, Great Paxton The Wheatsheaf, Perry
10. Sorry Rennie. We promise. You won't see the L word again on here.
11. Hey Rick Congratulations on the bike! But we need pics if we're going to believe you or else we'll just call it fake news. Place to ride - I guess you know about the bike nights at the Iron Horse Ranch in Market Deeping? https://us.eventbu.com/market-deeping/bike-night/2698021.amp. Was good when I last went (a few years ago now). And also Hartford Marina, between St Ives and Huntingdon? https://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=63432&p=992684&hilit=hartford#p989687. Keep an eye on the thread, as a few of us may be going along there this week. Cheers, Geoff
12. Hi Rick. This is an open meeting run by the pub in Conington. Some people from the forum toddle off there from time to time. I can't go this week, but if you went along you should find a load of bikers there.
13. Ah the dreaded cone. I did the same thing; I'd never hit any cones in practice, but come the test I managed to clip it, and ker-Chinese. Game over. The truth is that Mod 2 is easier than Mod 1 It's really about relaxing and riding as you normally do; just pay attention to cancelling those indicators Do you have a date booked yet for the test?
14. Bad luck mate; that's a proper injury. Makes my teeth go on edge to see a crooked foot like that All the best for the physio, when you get to start it. Speedy recovery
15. And what did you do to yourself, Baloo? Did I miss something in another post??
16. If only I was that young... this is just some young whippersnapper's licence that google found for me.
17. It should look a bit like this one: http://www.andrewrice.co.uk/images/drivinglicencebig.jpg
18. Hood for me too. Cracking jeans. Sizing about what I'd expect from normal trousers. Very helpful on the phone.

Blood Bikes

I can't speak for air ambulances, but this is how my local blood bikes group described their position to me: transporting blood is funded by the NHS authorities in our area. The NHS run their own in-house transportation service for something like 18 hours a day. Out of these hours, they have an arrangement with a local taxi company who will do the transportation and handle the paperwork.

I looked into joining up a few years ago, and went along to the induction day. It seems to me that they were happy to take anyone who was interested in helping, and were particularly pleased if you had an advanced riding qualification. The induction mainly focussed on procedures and paperwork - understandable given the importance of delivering the right product to the right place in the right condition.
21. Wicked day out. Great place, great roads, wonderful weather. Thanks Hoggs for organising us! And great to meet you all today.
22. and Santa Claus is visiting in person from the North Pole.
23. Me too. It's used to be a good place to go.
