  1. I'm surprised no ones stuck a picture of me up yet saving me the shame?
  2. I walked into that one didn't I - DOH. Must have been itching to tell us your CV.
  3. Yeah they seem good value for money mines the GP style and is actually road legal (No stamp) however I think if a copper was to get their dB meter out it may push the boundary. Never had any trouble in regards to that though as there are plenty louder exhuasts out there . The only issue I've got with mine is that it's messed the fuelling up and the bike doesn't run as smooth as it could, it hangs a bit around 7k rpm and hunts on the idle (I've got a full system). I've tried everything to fix the hunting and can only put it down to the exhuast now, but it sounds lovely espcially when you wind it up .
  4. Did you read the thread? We've got a battery/charging guru who seems to disagree... Maybe it was a thing in the past (I have no idea), but as above it's not the done thing for modern batteries.
  5. What was that on Bob? My zx6r is a pain in the testicles - side panels off, seat off, petrol tank off (propped up at a minimum), frame brace off and then finally the battery is accessible. It's probably best part of 1/2 hour all in and there's an awful lot of plastic clips and semi-rigid fuel pipe to knacker in the process - not to mention dropping the tank. No chance I'd offer it as a free service. FYI - when I ran Halfords stores (prob about 5 years worth) the battery fitting "course" was half a morning of some bloke showing how it is done in a car park (on an easy car too). Now, I ran a few stores and in each one I had to foot hefty repair bills when one of the "qualified fitters" guffed it up by: not using a memory saver on a rover (ecu recode), failing to secure the battery clamp or terminals (smashy-smashy, sparky-sparky), or the trusted favorite - putting it on the wrong way round. In a garage you pay for their expertise, in Halfords you pay for the insurance against a f**k up. On mine it's seat off and you're at the battery. Literally a 10 minute job for someone with 0 mechanical knowledge or skill. Charging £60 for mine was a total insult to whoever paid for it.
  6. soon anything older than 2007 will be subjected to a £12.50 a day charge to go inside the north circular .. so I need a newer bike Jeeeeeze, but then the insurance on a Post-2007 bike in your area might equate to £12.50 a day more anyway . Also you can bet they'll put new bike insurance up in London because of this, they'll know you've got no choice.
  7. I have to say I quite enjoyed this years, I had a crap ride to and from the venue but that was down to me and the weather! Friday night was cold but again can't control the weather, but the people are what makes the rally so good for me and the company was good as usual! So I had a great time, as mentioned the venue didn't accommodate us too kindly and the owner vanishing was a bit of a low move from him. The lack of a dedicated function room didn't help but I think the saturday was still enjoyable, I didn't have a bad time anyway - the endless arse smacking was fantastic .
  8. I just used this tent at the rally, I got it for a bit less at £50 it seems to have increased a little; https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06XRCPPQX/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It survived a few nights rain without letting in any water and also it packs down very small. I got it inside a smallish holdall with a sleeping bag and a few clothes and other bits.
  9. I would like to think any reputable/decent garage would stick a battery on for free if you'd bought it from them though. £60 is properly taking the piss.
  10. ...and the scars will stay with you forever (Cue pic of Meagwatt in 2013) You ain’t seen nuffin yet. Also home safe been in since 2:30. Wasn’t too wet at all though, however the satnav took me on some grim farmers roads - I had to risk riding through a miniature lake at one point in the road. Had no idea how deep it was.
  11. I personally would by the link pipe, I wouldn't want to be chopping up my standard can - they're pricey on these! Black Widow might sell you just a link pipe at a much reduced rate than what you find online but you'd have to contact them and make sure the diameters all match up.
  12. There is karaoke this year isn't there? It's a vital part of the evenings entertainment.
  13. You have been given the correct advice, get a new battery. If you ride around with a knackered battery you could fry your rectifier / regulator which will cost you more money. And please don't pay anybody to fit a battery even if they do let you watch . All you do is un bolt the leads and swap batteries then put the leads back on . There's a receipt with my bike where someone paid £60 for a battery and an additional £60 for fitting it.
  14. You coming on the bandit or something?
  15. finally someone with some sense To the others before telling someone to charge a battery make sure the electrolyte level is sufficent Most batteries these days are AGM and the fill up yourself types are phasing out.
  16. You'll be able to pick that up very easily without having to pay someone. Your battery will be under the seat so you remove that. Then you should have a cover over the battery which you can lift open. Then follow the steps above and you're away. Things like an oximiser or optimate are what you want for charging a bike battery but yours sounds very dead so you'll definitely want a new one. You could charge it and possibly get 3-4 days or you might get a day. Depends how buggered it is. Edit: Google says your battery might be accessed via a panel on the LH side under the seat.
  17. Simple . What is wrong with a bit of 'wet and slippy'? You're a bit old for that aren't you?
  18. I like this plan, I like it a lot.
  19. See met office says rain all day sunday , I'm just gonna plan for rain cause it's bound to happen.
  20. Can’t trust a forecast until the day anyway
  21. My costume is so shit it's unreal. But it's light and small so it'll do Oh mines shite but I'm happy with it, it'll keep them pesky Leeds away.
  22. I always assumed they were exactly the same with slightly different fairings. Seems insane to have two almost identical bikes and use a different lump in each, especailly as a 125.
  23. Bike still working? If not get in touch this week n will sort picking you up. Me n daft lad probably setting off mid morning ish as we will do the RAF museum on the way down. Yep working atm, so far so good. In for fork seals Thursday . No signs of any charging issues yet, I'll be bringing the old Optimate just incase
  24. Tried on my costume tonight, quite pleased with it. Also scouted the nearest booze stops on Google maps Sainsbury's 4 minutes away.
