  1. Yes, I'm back home too. Great brekkie although it was rather worrying when it started to snow as we navigated the A43/A5 roundabout. Hope Matt (houltmac) had a good ride home, all the way to Cheltenham (rather than Colchester where Roy was trying to send him!). Was a bit cold though. Whose idea was this meet? Madness....
  2. I'm still going, I'm meeting Suzilew and yorbandit at Wellingborough at 10am ish then riding over from there. Dan mentioned snow his way earlier but he's a bit further North. Houltmac, if you're in any doubt about the weather then don't risk it. Bound to be black ice around and I don't want anyone rubber side up. My number's in the contacts section (or PM me and I'll ping it back to you) if you want to wait till morning and let me know. I'll try to log on before I leave home at 9.30am. Haven't had chance to check if the cafe's open, but their website mentions nothing about being closed. Plus Towcester's down the road and there are cafes there.
  3. Attendees so far: (Assuming there's no snow on the ground and the temp is above zero) mojo Dan and TheWife (poss) yorbandit suzilew (poss) houltmac RicKsTa MtotheJ GOG (?)
  4. I just got some Wolf textiles, the titanium series, nice stuff Linky
  5. Congratulations on passing! I must admit I was quite aghast at how quickly you'd done it, but then if you're capable of passing the test then it indicates you ride to the acceptable standard. So well done! I did the DSA enhanced rider scheme shortly after I passed, it was a 2 day course, but depending on who runs it, it's done differently. I really enjoyed it and picked up some pointers. And I got a reduction on my insurance
  6. It's pelting it down with snow and I want to get out of Poland tomorrow... And I've got a sore throat
  7. Hi, thought a meet in the new year was in order so here it goes. Meet at Jack's Hill between 11am and 12noon for sausage/bacon sangers and a big ole mug of tea/coffee. Linky here Jack's Hill is on the A5 just north of Towcester and the A43. I'm going to check they're actually open on they day and will amend the post if they're not. Thought New Year's Day would be a bit cruel So, who's up for it?
  8. I'd have come along too, but I'm going to Poland that day (for work). Have fun.
  9. Yes, usually. I got a nod when I was on my test once and wasn't sure whether to nod back or not... I did a mini-nod in the end I think. I pretty much nod to other bikers, get a fairly good response. I'll only nod to mopeds, etc. if they're at least trying to wear the right gear. Try and avoid encouraging chavs on superbikes wearing shorts and trainers and riding at over 100+ in an urban area.
  10. Nope. Your CBT runs out in two years, but you can do your full test at any point after the CBT and theory test.
  11. Got back around an hour ago, had a good run out and back and a decent enough sausage sandwich. Not too hard to find either (thanks Roy!). And thanks also to Roy for making me sound like a cross between Bridget Jones and Fatal Attraction... Ahem
  12. Conditions attached to the freehold or leasehold, Many builders do this some do not allow pet rabbits to be kept or extensions to be built. I discovered this myself when I sold my last house, there was a conservertory on when I bought nothing was said, when I came to sell this covenent was brought to light. I then had to make an attempt to contact a builder who no longer existed and then have it taken off at cost to me. I'm not allowed to buy a conservatory for 5 years, I'm not allowed to build any structures in the garden, I can't keep chickens in my front garden (!) and I'm not allowed to hang washing out front either (like I would, lol). And I 'own' my house (well, Abbey own it, tbh). In my old rented house I wasn't allowed to keep motorbikes on the property. I still did, but the landlady didn't seem to mind too much.
  13. Confirm what Riffmaster says, the measurements are to be taken at your boundary.
  14. No plan to ride out from the Ace, but if you want to suggest something then I may be up for a short-ish bimble. Not too keen on going too far I'm afraid, or too late.. had a massively long week!
  15. They sound like a right bunch of moaning minnies! Like the man says, they need proof of the noise and your neighbours will probably have been asked to keep a record/diary of any 'excess' noise you make. Might be worth doing the same. As long as your exhaust is legal..... And if you want to pop round and have a word, I'd think twice, even though it sounds like you would do so with a best of intentions. Confrontation can be interpreted as intimidation. Intimidation can land you in court. You could pop a note round though, say sorry if you've caused them any distress/annoyance and you'll make a effort not to do so any further. Not much more you can do after that really. There's very little they can do seeing as it sounds like you're not actually causing that much noise! And you're in your own home. Noise pollution is all about perception. There is legislation about what the noise limits are but this is confined to actual activity, if you were about to build a property then the local authority would tell you what level of noise you could make and between which hours. As a private resident, there's very little to dictate noise/emissions apart from the Clean Air Act which usually only applies to open fires. Unless you plan on setting fire to your bike I wouldn't worry about it
  16. Hello! As we've never been, Suzilew and I think we need a trip to the Ace cafe. Please choose a day you can make and whichever day is most popular, we shall do the run. Sunday's actually a Honda Hornet meet at the Ace, but i'm sure they won't mind a few 'zukis and Kwaks turning up! Anyone and any cc welcome, not a fast run. Gentle bimble with a cup of tea/coffee at the end. *hint* we'll need someone with a satnav if poss. Twatnav won't work in London, it's too full of twats already MEETING PLACE for peeps riding down, the layby near Cardington airsheds; it's actually in Shortstown, on the A600 towards Shefford. Meet at 10am to 10.15, depart then hopefully arrive at the Ace around mid-day to 12.30. My number's in contacts or PM me if you want to come along. Let me know and we'll know to wait so far we have: mojobanana suzilew tinkerbell yorbandit (poss) golach (poss) and meeting us there firestorm Alex Gold
  17. Actually, the only thing against a monster is the lack of wind protection. You really do know you're going 60+ (and you will ) I'm glad I have some fairing on my bike, it's a little, but it helps and you have the option of popping a double bubble on if the fairing's there.
  18. Duc'! Duc'! Duc'! The first big bike I rode was a 696.. one of the brand new ones. I named her Bella *mojo drifts off into halcyon days* ...Anyway, I learnt how to ride on a 696 and I couldn't have asked for a better bike. I did a day on an ER6-N and hated it compared to the Duc'. No comparison for me, but the bike you like and why you like it is a very personal thing. It's crap at u-turns, so don't get into any tight spaces but the 'zorst does this gorgeous popping sound when you roll off the throttle... Aah...! Gotta love a v-twin I'd have a Monster in a heartbeat. But I'd want the 1100. btw, my local Duc dealer (*cough* TAG *cough*) has a 0% finance thing, 2.summat% etc. depending on what the deposit is.
  19. Ello fellow SVs rider!!! I get something approaching 130 miles out of a full tank, before the light starts flashing (at which point you have 4 litres of fuel left, at 2 litres it stays on). £12 or so to fill the tank just after it's started flashing. The tank is 16 litres (mine's an 05 plate, don't think it's changed since then). Hope this helps. I have the Haynes manual if there's anything you want looking up
  20. 219 miles, a short detour (abject failure of the marker system after stupid car driver took half an hour to turn right ), a cheap pub lunch and a quick milkshake at Peterborough services. Fantastic weather, lovely and warm, great conditions. Now relaxing on the sofa
  21. If you're around tomorrow then there's a run around Rutland (Saturday 12th) http://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/view ... 20&t=24483
  22. Yep, I shoved Frankie's (EDIT: panniers) on my bike, and had a look at TC's too. Just PM'd Techno on his offer. I had been looking on ebay for a set, but wasn't in any hurry to buy as I probably won't be needing them till next Spring. I refuse to do camping after September But if someone's got a set they don't want...
  23. Just got these off my camera, will put more on my FB... http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq247/mojo_banana/Bike/DSC01084.jpg http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq247/mojo_banana/Bike/DSC01086.jpg http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq247/mojo_banana/Bike/DSC01087.jpg http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq247/mojo_banana/Bike/DSC01088.jpg http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq247/mojo_banana/Bike/DSC01090.jpg http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq247/mojo_banana/Bike/DSC01092.jpg http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq247/mojo_banana/Bike/DSC01093.jpg http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq247/mojo_banana/Bike/DSC01096.jpg http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq247/mojo_banana/Bike/DSC01097.jpg
