  1. So if one of these bikes equipped with half a dozen bright lights is coming towards another vehicle do they all have a dipped beam circuit?
  2. Nice choice, that looks like a well cared for bike . The Showa sticker suggests there might be some suspension upgrades. Braided lines are another good addition. Be careful with those anodized engine bolts though, they are usually quite soft so use a snug fitting allen key if you ever have to remove them. Cool bike.
  3. My knowledge of physics is not great but this thought has occurred to me. Do multiple light sources actually provide more illumination than one sufficiently brilliant one ?
  4. Blue and Lonesome, Rolling Stones. Cross Eyed Heart, Keith and my own dreadful sausage - fingered attempts to play the guitar . Tone deaf arthritic dyspraxia is probably not an ideal combination for success but if I absolutely had to busk I would like to think I wouldn't starve. I'd lose weight though.

Toads don't live in water and frogs don't spawn until springtime. Could be some sticklebacks lurking in there among the shopping trolleys .
  6. Funny that because when I'm riding into the sunset in Scotland all the GS's are parked outside the B and Bs .
  7. Because then they can sell you upgrades for eleventy million pounds Thought so , ker Ching!
  8. Why don't BMW fit adequate forward lighting as standard ?
  9. So an R 1200 GS has got a radiator ? Just goes to show what I know . I would have said that with two big heavily finned cylinders sticking out on either side that it was an air cooled bike. I'll have to have a closer look next time I see one. ...... OK, I get it now , strategic auxiliary cooling by the look of it. http://i.imgur.com/DJjfbHh.png

Two extra litres of what ? Oil and water ? Oil and petrol ? Just oil ? When you first removed the sump plug what actually dropped out first ? Maybe this whole jet wash / water in oil thing is just a red herring and the bikes running rough for other reasons . You didn't get back to us about possible water in the float bowl . Did you get that knackered drain screw out or did you remove the bowl ? If so was there water in there as well ? We would all love to help but its hard to fix a bike by text without very precise information.
  11. Exactly why do YOU think its a problem ? As already stated, if the wires look like they are going to saw their way through the water pipes then sure , you will eventually have a problem. But you would be best able to determine wether this was the case by means of observation. If you are concerned about the radiated heat from the coolant hoses having an adverse effect on the wiring then bear in mind that the coolant should never exceed boiling point so no worries there . One thing for sure is that everything will work right up to the moment it all goes wrong . My concern would be with the ability of the bike's electrical system to cope with any overloading that might result from the addition of extra lights .

I agree , I have used a jet wash without any issues in the past but lets be clear here. I used a jet wash at a petrol station along with a soapy brush. What I did not use was a pressure washer of the kind used to blast green algae from pavements and patios. On the one occasion I used one of those big flakes of paint came off the engine and this was on the morning of the day I had arranged to sell the bike !

I seem to recall being mildly mocked when I mentioned this a while ago but there may be something to be said for measuring the volume of the oil you take out of a bike just as carefully as you measure what you put back in. For example,if you get much less oil out than you put in then you might have knackered valve guides . If you get more out than you put in then you might have a faulty fuel tap and stuck floats as was the case with my ER5 before I sorted it . It doesn't take long to decant it into a measuring jug first before pouring it into a container ready for disposal. If our unfortunate friend were to leave all this oil to stand in a see through jug then it would eventually separate and then the mystery would be solved.

Possibly but remember that oil floats on top of water so that isn't necessarily a bowl of just oil. Also bear in mind that you have already shown a picture of a water/oil emulsion belching out of the airbox after being coughed up from the crankcase.

Me too initially but it would seem that so much water has found it's way info the crankcase via the airbox that its actually being pumped back out again when the engine is running.

Twice ? Why are you going to drain the oil ? Do you think there's so much water inside the engine that it's being pumped back into the airbox through the oil breather? Makes sense I suppose but you must have aimed that jet washer in the wrong place for quite some time to do that. Can I suggest that you use the cheapest oil you can get your hands on for the first oil change and use the good stuff for the second one. After that I suggest you go for a very long ride to boil off any remaining water. By the way, when I saw the last picture I assumed that the water was simply lurking in the airbox all the time but on reflection I do see where your coming from. If I pumped water into the airbox on my ER5 it would flow straight into the crankcase. We can thank the environmentalists for this because its designed to stop naughty oil vapour getting out by burning it off through the carbs. Trouble is anything going the other way such as petrol from a stuck float or in your case water from the jet wash ends up in your oil. There's something to be said for pod filters and a separate crankcase breather . Do let us know what drops out when you drain the oil. Good luck.

Yes ? And ? .... That looks like an emulsion of oil and water. Probably been there all the time since the jet wash. Does your airbox have a drain tube underneath ? If it does it's either blocked up with crap or it has a bung in the end that you are supposed to remove every now and then to drain any moisture that has collected. Anyway, looks like you've found the cause of the problem.
  18. Your GSX 1400 , did it have hand guards fitted ? If it did we had a chat at Cross Gates café earlier this year. Can't remember which bike I was on though.
  19. I had a look threw, turns out lexmotos and electricity just don't go well That's right .
  20. Another one for the Lexmoto sub forum ?
  21. Like this!SAM_1092.JPGSAM_1093.JPG Sorry just had to post< came in on a Honda City fly couple years ago, Guy reckons wouldn't move forward very well!!!!! Now hangs on workshop wall If you ever visit Bike Bits breakers in Coventry they have a rear sprocket hanging in the shop that actually has no teeth at all , not even bumps. The bike was ridden there from Leamington Spa which is about 15 miles !
  22. You do have teeth on both sprockets don't you ? I
  23. A completely worn out clutch will still have enough friction to turn the back wheel if it's off the ground and there is no resistance at all.
  24. Sorry, I don't know how to post video links but I've just found and watched this and it would appear to be very straightforward.http://i.imgur.com/UdD9Fmo.png
  25. Sounds like you haven't got a clutch at all . Your going to have to open it up but I reckon you might find the friction plates burned , missing or just plain worn out. Get a manual and whip out all the plates , friction and steel, then measure the total stack height and compare it to acceptable limits.
