  1. Or sacked for not.making you join up at a high cost as you had broken down before joining .. Sadly you have no idea do you ....
  2. this is the rear final drive people euro car parts 80/90 btw hypiod is just designed for having more pressure applied based on how the gears are cut
  3. Sorry to hear that but also pleased that its not going to be tainted ..
  4. looking like plod can go two ways Yes i own ex plod with checker pattern hi vis jacket .. Why? Because that particular style manufactured by Turner & Virr are the best foul weather jackets i have ever known and easily obtained from surplus .. Never been wet or cold wearing that . Having ridden fill liveried bikes on SERV In standstill traffic yes its a bit parting of the Red Sea but in traffic its a case of it slows you down as everyone starts obeying speed limits ahead of you or they are so nervous looking in rear mirror you end up hanging back waiting for them to stack it . And the amount of Joints you see being thrown out windows on seeing you is Hilarious .
  5. But have you ordered the extensive collection of Dog Piss Cardboard Barriers required?

    Whistling sound.

are you sure the whistle is bike related Not your helmet visor whistling if its become loose/ Deformed / open
  7. You can jump start a bike from a car battery ( it's not advisable to do so with the car running though) You can slave feed from a car battery ie similar to jump start but not starting it instantly .Connect leads and leave connected for 10-15 mins then disconnect and start bike . To use a charger they generally has to have a 1Amp or less charging mode which most car chargers do not have and will not recognise the battery .
  8. I would suggest putting this message on either TheAA Twitter account or Facebook if you hold such things as this can be fed back to the Patrol and can result in a commendation if they can be traced .
  9. does the engine rev higher ? i would guess clutch is starting to slip
  10. Mrs Smithers eats them all the time. Shhh, just between you me and the forum. PS She only tends to howl at full moon. but her furry bits are sooo shiny ...
  11. FB casting has broken up around area A either through overtighten or being used to secure camshaft to undo/tighten bolts
  12. that chunk may be creating nice bits of metal floating around your engine causing damage and clogging oilways ... it may still be relatively intact and resting lower down on the timing chain hence the rattle ... it may be historic and nothing new but you need to investigate.. remove side covers and look for remenants drain oil and check for fragments and go from there .. check that area to see if its going to disintegrate further and replace if necessary
  13. 9do you mean area A or B if A looks like a chunk has gone missing if B i can't really see anything to worry about
  14. as a suggestion for a bike to look for that is not too excessive but will transport you miles and miles is a Honda Deauville either the 650 or 700 . built in panniers and fully faired and shaft drive for touring . and it may have a dullsville reputation but they fill a huge gap in the market .
  15. at my age 62 the bikes too fast ok ...if you like the bike though why not fit a restriction kit https://www.busters-accessories.co.uk/en/category/10416070000/article/507408/
  16. Right so you have a zzr600 ( badged as a zx6 ninja in other countries so its either an import or has replaced panels) or do you have a zx6r ? and you want to swap for a tourer style zzr600 is a decent sports tourer so no point swapping for a zx636 as that is the ramped up version of the bike you have . best thing to do is sell your bike and then buy what you desire rather than swapping as face it ... zzr600 at that age require a lot of refurb. Shocks are normally gone , suspension bushes/bearings are shot , valves need shimming . So you are not going to get a great bike in return as a swap .
  17. but that is impact speed they are investigating . Note my post states CLOSING speed ..nothing to do with impact forces Ie using the stated ruling we all know which may differ Both drivers at 30mph ..each has a stopping distance of 75ft so you need to think if another vehicle appears can i stop in the space that does not interfere with their stopping distance which is 75ft at 30mph but if they are doing 60mph 240ft... so technically 30mph+30mph that is 75 +75 =150ft however that is both drivers seeing and reacting at the same instant so you 30+30=60mph which you allow 240ft / 2 = 120ft to allow for that variance
  18. Right....well my helmet mount is tiny and the camera is shaped nicely for the wind, they did think about that before hand. You know that right? nothing to do with aerodynamics its when your head is sliding down the road ...twisting motions then can make a huge difference to wether you walk again or not .
  19. neither a helmet is designed to slide and reduce friction ...helmet mounts induce friction and twisting motions mount to the bike .
  20. speak to your local bike shop see if there is someone they recommend .Remember that stitching on leathers , boots etc are designed to take a huge force and some conventional repairers methods will be inadequate.

    Fell off

however you need to contemplate the fact that if you now miss / over fill tank you run the risk of fuel being poured onto your hot engine/exhaust or your boots/clothing... as it is designed to exit at number 7 on the diagram ....its now exiting at number 3 ...i would suggest either replacing it or finding a way of extending the pipe so that it expells itself away from these items ..
  22. I reply to you with great respect, I'm not into picking arguments for the sake of it but I see too many times, riders/drivers unwilling to cross solid white lines and causing unnecessary hold ups. It is quite legal to cross solid white lines under certain circumstances. This does not reflect the original post, just a separate but related comment. So that means that i can cross over the white line if there's a queue of traffic stationary and there are no cars coming from the opposite way, isn't it? EDIT: Only because i'm sitting in queue because of the white line whilst other bikers just whizz past way over the white line... make me feel a bit stupid. No .queing cars are not stationary. even though the cars may not be moving all it requires is one to move an inch and its no longer stationary traffic . Face it Even blue lights are not allowed to pass moving traffic on solid whites ... unsure if this has been updated since but Regulation 26 of The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 provides the requirements and exceptions for vehicles stopping, crossing or straddling any length of road along which double white line markings have been placed. It also includes the warning that such markings convey. Exceptions to sections 26(2)(B) - crossing/straddling the markings Nothing in paragraph 26(2)(B) above shall be taken to prohibit a vehicle from being driven across, or so as to straddle, the continuous line referred to in that paragraph, if - it is safe to do so; and - it is necessary to do so and it is (a) to enable the vehicle to enter, from the side of the road on which it is proceeding, land or premises adjacent to the length of road on which the line is placed, or another road joining that road; (B) in order to pass a stationary vehicle; © owing to circumstances outside the control of the driver; (d) in order to avoid an accident; (e) in order to pass a road maintenance vehicle which is in use, is moving at a speed not exceeding 10 mph, and is displaying to the rear the sign regulatory arrow sign (white arrow on blue) - traffic to proceed either left or right as indicated by sign or the sign for vehicles to stay right of vehicle involved with mobile roadworks (white arrow on blue, but mounted on yellow board with flashing amber lights); (f) in order to pass a pedal cycle moving at a speed not exceeding 10 mph; (g) in order to pass a horse that is being ridden or led at a speed not exceeding 10 mph; or (h) for the purposes of complying with any direction of a constable in uniform or a traffic warden.
  23. categorically NO it is failing to comply with the order given by tge blue arrow that you will fall foul of . take a few minutes longer and wait at end of day its your licence And there is no publication within the IAM that condones it . the only exemptions are BLUE light users or if directed by police . i think with white lines you get confused with stationary and queing traffic and take heed of the 10mph section . Technically the most common time you can legally cross a solid white is to turn right or pass a horse .The other exemptions very rarely come into play as no cyclist does 10mph or less these days road maintenance vehicles can work at high mph than when the law was written not many places allow parking in an area of solid white lines. and to say again Stationary ie PARKED / broken down IS what is defined as stationary Not queuing traffic so be wary of crossing the lines to beat the queue .

    Breakdown cover

read exactly everything in tge terms and conditions so you understand HOW it all works before . You may be suprised ....
  25. be prepared for a huge difference in straight line stability especially at motorway speeds or in turbulent air ie behind large vehicles . That wind resistance of large panniers will normally give some wobbling .
