  1. RememberWatching a young breakdown patrol a few years back attaching the booster pack clamps to a vintage car .... Poor sod became a Welder and a fireman in one go .. His Brain never retained that vital part of information that not all vehicles are Negative Earthed .....
  2. And a point for their correct name :
  3. You used the packet? That's way to thick, you should have used the papers! Depends on what it was for ..... Used to be ideal on mini's
  4. Surely should be coupled with ... And if all you ever used to set the gap between them was a tear off the packet of Then Get indoors now !!!!
  5. To me that has had a new barrel on it as rest of engine is dull chipped etc but barrell section is shiny . So at a guess . potentially No gaskets or damaged gaskets Piston rings not correct Valve clearances far too excessive Missing engine internals
  6. Bike has NO compression from sound of first video . To do a quick test Remove spark plug Make sure plug lead is out of the way . Place your thumb or finger over the spark plug hole to seal the hole and press the starter . It should be forced off by the cylinder pressure You will need to get a cylinder pressure tester to get an Accurate reading though. Looks like engine has been stripped at some point . Ie your 'collector 'you bought from has removed parts from engjne ie piston or valves

  8. Red rubber grease ...
  9. However ... Remember they recommend that minimum requirement for a reason ... Some pads are held in by pins going through the pads which won't fall out But some are held in by other methods And when material goes below minimum there is a risk that A. Due to caliper slider rail design the pad may simply fall out and lodge beside the disk in the caliper ...This creates a huge stoppie effect on front wheel and a slidey moment on rear. B. The pad may just simply fall out ... C. The piston may not have enough travel to effectively work beyond a certain point and you then risk the piston dislodging dumping brake fluid everywhere and etc Or B&C combined However yes i have run pads to just before metal before but am aware of the characteristics of the calipers at the time ....
  10. Taxi's are still operating Yes but do you know who their last occupant was ? Was it the tired worn out nurse who has just come off a 12hr shift in ICU What is their cleaning regime between passengers ...
  11. All i will say is that by going out on bike ... Hope you have a secondary method of getting home . Mainstream Recovery and roadside assistance are still operating daily as normal however due to distancing measures we can safely recover your motorcycle with our vehicles but riders well ... Cars we can easily recover with occupants .. So don't just think of well im not going to fall off ..Think what happens if you breakdown ..
  12. Perhaps you would be kind enough to point them out to me . Hmmm looks a bit suspect there
  13. Two pieces of advice 1. Check this bolt for tightness DO NOT GO MAD ON IT !!!! IT ONLY NEEDS TO BE TIGHT ie hand tight then spanner tight ( you begin to feel the resistance and a weeny bit more ) Wipe clean the area and keep an eye on it . This is unlikely to have been as a result of yhe bike going over unless the base of the engine struck something ie lamp post / kerb 2.investigate this clean silver line as it may be a crack in the casing There may be a historic leak as looking at the picture one side of engine is bone dry but other seems stained/wet
  14. FFS 4 pages of moaning over irrelevance and NOT 1 F*CKING BISCUIT REFERENCE .What the fook happened to TMBF 2019 ...

  20. All looking a bit unused. Is this willy just for show or can it be used in anger? Was actually brand new out of box Christmas present . ( can see packing just in bottom of shot ) My old socket set i have had the majority since my early teens and they took me through my YTS in garages and later through working for three different local garages on a who needed help as well as my own repairs . Fancied having some order in the trays rather than the mishmash of mixed sets . They don't get used as much as i used to but that's due to a: relatively new bike still under warranty &B. not a lot of time for me to do stuff and garage has become a bit cluttered ....Which plans are in place at present . So no not just willy waving ... Which reminds me i did find my king dick . picture to follow
  21. Won't do your alloy/coated wheels much good though
