  2. Do I nod? Why yes. I nod off when I read nodding threads
  3. Easy cheap fix. Get you through the winter. Of course we could dismantle the whole thing and have it electroplated with 18ct gold. A highly decorative and weather proof finish, but a bit OTT
  4. Parkers say Honda XL125V-3 2003/03 Original Price £2,999 Independent Dealer £1,875 Private Good £1,590 Private Poor £1,030 Part Exchange £1,165
  5. I've seen a Goldwing towing a caravan. Don't they use them somewhere for recovering cars?
  6. Rub the leg down. Then alluminium primer and paint with smoothrite.
  7. The honda varadero 125 is much restricted so the engine is not stressed during normal riding. If it sounds ok and checks out I wouldn't be put off by 33K. It would however be a big part of the haggle on price. 6 years old and its been round the world 1.5 times mate. my offer is..........
  8. If it's the alloy bit of your forks that is pitted try autosol and an electric toothbrush. they are lacquered usually so once the weather has penetrated it's a regular job. Give the swing arm a good clean and touch it up with finnegans smoothrite. It's the smooth version of hammerite. A long handle on a small brush should get into the nooks and crannies Replace corroded nuts, bolts and all fasteners. They have a habit of getting stuck. http://www.mr-fastner.com/products.asp?cat=23
  9. Night vision can be seriously affected by diet. No No not the eat carrots thing. Making sure you are getting certain vitamins will bring your eye sight up to scratch. Them yellow glasses can help too http://www.uk-autotech.co.uk/product26160_59818.aspx
  10. Probably a problem in that particular area of the chain. Worn, seized or stretched.
  11. You do like the main roads Frankie. Live a little, from Sedbergh, try the b6257 to Tebay. Stunning.
  12. Intermittent electrical problems are a pain. Cos if it won't do it , you can't trace it. Simplest solution first. Yes. Change the bulb. And by the way, punching it will only result in a damaged hand and/or a more expensive repair. It may also cause acute embarassment as passers by giggle. Resist the urge.
  13. First thing to get is a manual. Haynes go through everything, step by step, with pictures. It will help you work out what tools you need before you start. Start your collection. Do what you can and get the rest done for you. Over time your skills will increase. Now't like that fixed it myself feeling. If it's going to take months for you to save up for spanner fees, what have you got to lose?
  14. You shouldn't run plain water as a coolant. 50/50 water and antifreeze. Coolant. Even in summer. Allsorts of problems with plain water, including overheating. If bleeding is not your problem you may well have a damaged head gasket. You don't allways get an oil coolant mix. It depends where the damage is. Compression may be getting past the gasket and blowing the coolant out.
  15. Has an odour of male bovine excrement slowly percolated through.
  16. Now for the longevity test.
  17. Might just need bleeding. Put a cable tie round the lever and bar. Pull it tight and leave it overnight. The air will perculate up into the master cylinder and out of the lines.
  18. Off the top of my head, crank bearings, big end bearing, little end bearing, piston siezed in bore. Hard to say from the info you've posted.
  19. Same difference. Epoxy resin or epoxy putty. Araldite is the same sort of stuff. It's all down to the additives. Fingers crossed it holds
  20. Siezure is usually bottom end
  21. Clean the affected area with Cillit bang. It contains Phosphoric acid. This reacts with the iron oxide making it inert and black. Coca cola has the same ingredient but not as concentrated. After treatment, the reddish-brown iron oxide will be converted to a black iron phosphate compound coating that may be scrubbed off. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phosphoric_acid Rinse very very well
  22. http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid ... motorcycle Put motorcycle breakers essex into google . You'll be amazed
  23. Really Frankie . Try the Quick steel. Wire brush the area. Chop a piece and mix it. Press it home. Cures in 20 mins and is almost bullet proof. Should be 30 mins tops. Been using it for 20 years.
  24. Every tool box should contain a stick
  25. If there's not enough in the battery to create a spark, it's not going to fire on a bump till you're doing enough speed to generate one through the alternator. I picked up a battery jump start pack. A lot less faffing than maneuvering two vehicles together.
