You shouldn't run plain water as a coolant. 50/50 water and antifreeze. Coolant. Even in summer. Allsorts of problems with plain water, including overheating. Really Frankie . Try the Quick steel. Wire brush the area. Chop a piece and mix it. Press it home. Cures in 20 mins and is almost bullet proof. Should be 30 mins tops. Been using it for 20 years.

If there's not enough in the battery to create a spark, it's not going to fire on a bump till you're doing enough speed to generate one through the alternator. I picked up a battery jump start pack. A lot less faffing than maneuvering two vehicles together.
