CBT - Experiences of other Members
Gerontious replied to slanty's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
In my opinion its only worthwhile buying a 125cc bike if: you cannot afford the DAS and then buy a bigger bike AND insure it. Or, if you intend holding on to the 125cc for at least 12 months, before moving up. Riding the bike for 12 months will give you 1 years "No Claims" which will have a significant effect on your insurance when you move up. But, there have been plenty of people on this and other forums who have just gone for it. from zero experience to full license in just a matter of weeks. we're all different and this suits some people where it may not suit you. Its your money, your decision to make. -
I always understood that to mean a vehicle that is parked up at the side of the road. not one that's in the lane being driven, though at a standstill. Normally double solid lines are there for a reason. a good reason. often because some unfortunate has been killed doing exactly what the double lines are there to prevent.

why would you want to keep them anyway? If I don't have a supply at home, I get them from a charity shop. they always get clothes etc they can't sell, usually because of damage. (anything soiled is treated as clinical waste and has to be dealt with differently - by law) I just ask if they have any cotton sheets or similar and they nearly always do. drop some change in their collection tin and toddle off.

I never met an exception I didn’t like.

I stick my foot out because I’m a rebel.

Pricier, but a lot of owners rave about them. Is the Atlas. Which works in a different way. Mechanical - but ‘push button’.

I wish my life was as exciting….. sat nav now fitted and just to add to the thrill of it all and in a bid to try and stay awake. I oiled the chain. By hand, with a cute little paint brush as I like making work. Why anyone would spend good money on an oiler when they can be on their knees in all weathers and end up with filthy hands - beats me completely!! sweet.

Feels more like good night to me as I’m fast approaching the end of a night shift. Finishing at 8 then off to the dealership for 10. Hopefully in bed by 11:30 (am) but, the weekend starts here. Off till Friday night 8pm.

no, I don’t mean like water. I buy sugar free drinks every time. I don’t buy sweeteners for use at home. Either the sprinkle on faux sugar type. Or the tiny white tab type. Nor do I buy sugar.
-
No effect on me. I don’t use sweetners or sugar at home but opt for sugar free drinks at every opportunity.

That was my first thought too.. Im not entirely sure its either legal or safe to ever filter inside of a lengthy road tunnel. Ive only used the BW tunnel once mind. a long time ago. But, Ive never come across a road tunnel where this is allowed. Streetview shows a single solid line for the south/north and double solid for the north/south.

You are very fortunate to have a friend or relative with that kind of 'an eye'. I simply cannot justify the cost of one of their sets, because most of the sizes would never get used by me. but.. buying the individual sizes in dribs and drabs is easier. Their Allen keys are fabulous. A Christmas gift to me, and what sent me down this rabbit hole.

Ask an American. https://tinyurl.com/552fmfzz Though admittedly this guy has made trolling American HD owners an art form. But, I think its safe to say that a lot of what he says in that article is what a lot of riders here think too. Unless, that is you ride one. then you either 'get it' or you don't. Up until 2000 a very similar though different attitude was aimed at BMW riders. "Old mens bikes". The idea that they would be anything like they are today would have been utterly preposterous back then.

Been doing a bit of overtime each month and setting this aside for tool purchases. and today these arrived. how can such little things cause such excitement? . Updating the bikes tool kit as the spanner that came with the bike to adjust the chain offended my OCD. it was a 10/13 and yet the one nut is a 12mm. And we can't have that!! (can we)

Very unlikely, but there are likely scenarios where it could happen. Near busy meeting places if the police decide to do random spot checks. Or if your stopped for actually breaking some rule or other then it might possibly be checked. But, by normal traffic police for this one specific reason? Seems very unlikely. If it’s black and apparently opaque then that might raise the risk level somewhat.

Ideal bike to tour across Europe on? Uk to Croatia July...
Gerontious replied to thevoyager's topic in Motorbike Chat
You might get a better deal for an older NC750 now as the new version is transformed and a much more ‘exciting’ bike to ride than the previous bikes. Once this filters through, if it hasn’t already it could very well encourage higher levels of trade-ins and private sales by owners looking to replace. Helped to an extent by the cost of living crisis that will necessarily depress sales and encourage Honda and its dealers to improve deals. Lower deposits, reduce interest and so on. -
Before panic ensues.... if you are riding a bike, say to Slovenia. The App doesn't recognise that or any form of 'road' transport. it's only if you fly or arrive by boat. It doesn't allow you past this step. France is Aircraft only. Only Italy mentions ground travel. (Bus, Train, Car/other vehicle) see Slovenia and Italy below. This is just another reason to Stay just over the border in Austria, if you just happen to be going to the Dolomites. This and the stupendous price of petrol in Italy. (obviously) Are you paying attention @rob m If you are just touring in France, this form is irrelevant.

I have a shortcut on my phone and desktop that takes me to “unread content”

I had to actually look for them as they are on a page I very rarely see.

Removed the mount for my old zumo 660 and fitted the new one for the XT, taking the bike to the dealers on Tuesday to have the electrics done. Not something I want to mess with. I don't have a great history with bike electrics.

Its a criminal offence in russia to use the word "war" or complain about it in any fashion whatsoever risking 10years plus in prison. BUT... that isn't stopping very quiet and subtle acts of rebellion. one example: people are replacing the price stickers in supermarkets with their own, and above the price isn't a description of the item... just a little statement, an attempt to get the reality of what's going on out to normal Russian shoppers. for example.
