  1. No cap where they start throttling you? I do the same but my "unlimited everything" starts getting throttled at peak hours once you exceed 35gb of data usage in that month.
  2. Bought my very first smartphone and have been getting to grips with it. will be using it as a hotspot and so i have also cancelled my home internet. Ive been testing it today and my internet seems unaffected.. certainly YT isn't bad at all, no different as far as I can tell. So, new phone and Im saving £12 a month. or will be once my internet and home phone have gone. Phone is an iPhone SE and I have a 2 year unlimited everything contract.
  3. I use it mostly for cleaning oil and tar, especially for the wheel rims as it just seems to dissolve it and make the job of cleaning this muck much easier. for chains. Paraffin (kerosene) for cleaning and then cheap gear oil for lubricating.. though there is very little, just the tiniest part of a chain link that could be said to need lubrication. its mostly about preventing corrosion. which will cause problems like stiff links and so on. If you buy a D.I.D chain.. this is what they tell you to do on the back of the box. its not complicated.
  4. Meanwhile.... HEL Braided hoses. I think at one time it was only HEL that used stainless steel banjos as standard.. when other manufacturers used zinc plate as standard. Im not sure if its the same today, but whatever aftermarket hose manufacturer you decide upon, always look at the fixings, banjos and the material they are made from. they are not all equal.
  5. This latest bright idea from the government of making all returnees and visitors undergo a 14 day quarantine may have brought all our plans to a crashing halt. but, there is still plenty of time for a reversal. We don't need to make a final decision untll the start of August. And we already have the beginnings of a Plan B ready to roll out. for 'just in case'. Im still quite optimistic. because very soon the pressure on the government will begin to mount, its already started. From the airlines and soon from the travel industry and ferry companies all desperate to claw-back some business for this year. That.... plus all the destination countries (aside from greece - right now) opening up and hoping for british holiday makers. Well... one can hope. we have at least 8 weeks left before a final decision has to be made.
  6. you should have let me know.. its a nice ride south from here down the Fosse... to Avebury. and Avebury (to me at least) is far more impressive than Stonehenge. maybe next time. My work has changed somewhat to a 2 day week.. with the hours made up by "waking nights" - so, i have more free time.
  7. they are NOT closing the roads to motorcycles. they are banning bikes with loud (non standard) exhausts!!
  8. Ive already seen that and it doesn't affect us. (we're all completely legal) My routes to and fro did not go near that area anyway. A local has already followed up with this post. Assuming we go, and its on a bit of a knife edge right now.. we will be heading directly for Zell am See and the Grossglockner. The only reason to be at that end is for passes into Italy and the Stelvio. both of which I have now written off. Even if the borders into Italy are open. we will not be crossing. No great loss.
  9. The economie takes 28hrs 30 mins outward. 26hrs 30 mins return. times as posted on Brittany ferries website.
  10. If you are going by ferry.. particularly if you want to use the economie. more basic ferry.. its a must to book as early as possible. in fact its best to have your dates set in stone before the end of summer of the year before (at the latest) and book with a deposit the moment the tickets become available. as they sell out in days.
  11. Only the half that is south of the A46 is 50MPH, the northern half (also the better half) is still NSL. This factual inaccuracy has tainted my enjoyment of this review That is how I remember it from just last week when i went down that road... south out of Melton.
  12. I am on streetview walking down the hill from my house. Fortunately (very) the car came round my road an hour or so after I had returned from a ride out and the bike was hidden away.
  13. I'm working this weekend. Waking nights, which is fine by me... Last night tonight then tomorrow get my body clock turned back to normal(ish) and perhaps have a ride out Sunday evening now the daylight is lasting well past nine.
  14. I had a Corbin seat back in the mid 1990s for my 900 speed triple. it was definitely an upgrade and quite expensive.. probably comparable to today, maybe a little cheaper as it was not leather. They are expensive because they are each one bespoke. made by hand in-house and then subject to import duty Vat and so on. They are also quite heavy and so air shipping isn't cheap. I needed a new seat for the Africa twin as for my use... the OEM became an instrument of torture after about 150 miles.. by contrast many other owners consider the original seat to be one of the most comfy they have ever had. we are all different. When it came to actually doing something, I went for the Sargent as they have always had a very good reputation. I got one 2nd hand sent to me from Finland. mint condition.. not even 'broken in' and despite coming from Finland (in 3 days) I saved over a £100 on a new one from their south wales distributor. I was still mocked for the price i paid though.. not that I cared. people spend all sorts of silly money on farkle. a lot of which is actually more bling than farkle. My purpose is almost exclusively about improving my ride. locally and more distant. Have to say the OPs Corbin is rather nice.. compared to some designs i have seen. absolute monstrosities. Americans tend to make some very (by my standards) odd choices. but mine suits me. understated and good for 300 pain free miles.
  15. swapped out the stupidly heavy and pointless (for me) Sump guard/Bash plate. for an OEM plastic one.. that looks like Carbon. And got to use my latest toy. A multifunction ratchet.. with a swivel head.
  16. They're best used on bikes where accessing the spark plugs is a massive faff. Which is why they're OEM on the Africa Twin.
  17. Its mainly about lasting longer.. for example on my bike thats a 32,000 mile interval.
  18. exactly.
  19. The Running-in period instructions for my 2018 Africa Twin were very simple. over 300 miles. So not particularly onerous, Short and sweet... easier to type out than grab the camera and upload an image. And thats it. All the owners manual has to say on the matter.
  20. In which case the French trial will fail.
  21. Bloody lightweights. if you're going to do it, do it properly.
  22. ah.. he's been triggered. Time to stock up on popcorn.
  23. Weather for ducks but luckily it's a bike with a beak. Quack (bloody) Quack
