1. Tried that, had to go a week earlier as our return date is too far in advance. Saving was £6 , so not worth it. Ah well , that's understandable because it's based on unused seating capacity . Too far in advance and it's impossible to predict . I booked mine the day before but I was carrying a crash helmet and riding home on a new bike . I realize that it's taking a chance but did you consider buying one way then buying another one way when you want to come back again ? Why not buy a return ticket and then try TRAINSPLIT the day before . You can cash in an unwanted ticket but there is an " Admin " fee . It could still be cheaper . Two singles ,Rugby to Manchester airport is £105. Two singles,Manchester to Rugby, £105. Same journey with open return, £107; go figure
2. SPLIT TICKET , TRAIN SPLITTER etc I can't remember the exact name , I'll check it out later . When I went to buy my bike in Portsmouth the cheapest fare was listed as £97 but I got it down to £23 . You may have some extra changes but 75% off looks good to me . Buy online and just enter your code in the machine at the station to print tickets . My journey was Coventry - Euston , tube to Victoria and then on to Fratton in Portsmouth . Definitely worth a go . EDIT : TRAINSPLIT , that's the one I used but there are similar sites . Tried that, had to go a week earlier as our return date is too far in advance. Saving was £6 , so not worth it.
3. Signed it on the RGV forum
4. Tried duckygo and went onto Vigin website, it knew I was going from Rugby and the 9th September so that didn't work? Have stopped faffing about and just booked it with Virgin.
5. With OH and 40kgs of luggage , don't see it myself . I'm sure you could get 40kgs of luggage and the OH on the bike I'd spend the whole week on holiday worrying if the R1 would still be there when we got back
6. Having checked out several websites concluded its all a big fix, every single site is exactly the same price, £107. Whatever happened to competition? All proclaim to offer cheap tickets ,yeah right.
7. mike_smith Thumbs up to scooters, 2 or 3 wheels. This is mine, 600cc Honda Silverwing, pig ugly but fun and comfortable to ride.
8. I think if the technology gets tried and tested and gets sited in appropriate locations I don't see an issue with it. If they get positioned on open roads where no-one is offended by the noise, that's when people will just view them as a money making scam. If they are in a village blighted by bonehead riders with loud cans then carry on.
9. To go from Birmingham New street to airport is another £90 Makes no sense. And then would have to get to Brum, meaning two changes ,there and Crewe. The £107 option is Rugby to Crewe, then change for the airport.
10. With OH and 40kgs of luggage , don't see it myself .
11. Looking at catching a train from Rugby to Manchester airport and checked out the Trainline and Virgin to find the prices are exactly the same, around £107 for the two of us. We almost never catch any trains except to Birmingham or NEC, so a little bit green at it; my question is are there any other sites worth trying? Car parking, fuel and tolls will be around £100 plus the 2.5 hrs of crawling up the M6 so thought I'd let the train take the strain.
12. Sadly not, it was a total wash out. A guy from work went this morning and counted 22 bikes I went just after lunch (in the car) when it had stopped raining and there wasn't many more there then. Quick wander round, no1 grandson had a couple of goes on the fun fair and went home.
13. I'd check these; Earths from battery to frame/engine. 12v feed to the ignition switch 12v supply out of ignition switch Kill switch.
14. I was waiting for someone to say this. Yes both incidents are somewhat linked. After that first incident i decided im just gonna stay in the left lane from now on. Im never in a rush anyways. This is why i didnt move into second lane but at the same time i was experimenting with driving at a continous speed and not giving way to slip road. I like to test things then adjust. My take away from this is to always be curtious if safe to do so (i.e. slow down). But i still dont think i should change lanes. I would say move yourself out of the danger zone, i.e. where the slip road joins the carriageway.Move into lane 2. Do not expect the joining traffic to do the right thing, they might speed up,slow down or continue at the same speed and expect you to give way. Put yourself in control, plan each approach to a junction. What if a vehicle comes down the slip road, what am I going to do.
15. Buy a skip and put it in front of your house when the van is gone.

How about k-nuts? Used a lot in motorsport. You can get them with built in washers aswell. https://www.demon-tweeks.com/demon-tweeks-metric-aerospace-locknut-k-nut-243560/
19. That seems to be the case for all 250s doesn’t it, the RS250, KR1S, NSR250. They are more like collectors items now, I want a bike I can actually use day to day though, whenever I feel the need I've got an RGV250 and while a brilliant bike to own and ride, I wouldn't recommend it for daily transport. It's really cramped to ride, the seat is rock hard and relatively expensive to run;New pistons at 10k miles and full rebuild at 20k miles. £10 a litre for quality 2 stroke oil and 35mpg in fuel. And yes they are expensive to buy £3-4 grand as a start. But would I change it? No,not never ever.
20. I would be asking KTM what the cause of the dropped valve was and is it likely to affect the new engine. Browsing on Google does bring up patchy reliability. I'd get the new engine fitted and get shot of it,my confidence in long term ownership of it would be dented
21. Next thing the council will be bleating about fewer shoppers and visitors to the city centre. We go to Ikea probably every 6 weeks or so, a CAZ charge would stop that if its too much £ and would go to B'ham or MK instead. Same goes for Hobbycraft and Machine mart, we would go elsewhere. Surely it would just move traffic to the outskirts and cause more congestion and pollution there instead while the city centre roads are deserted. Except for me blasting around on the 380
22. The weather looks a bit iffy for Saturday so might have to be the R1.
23. What's wrong with that, i often set the cruise control at 56mph when on the m'way 56mph is better than 50. Driving much slower than the general flow of traffic can be hazardous IMO,not just on motorways but on any road. I used to regularly get stuck behind a car along the Banbury to Southam road in a massive queue because the driver chose to drive at 35-40 on a 50 mph road.
24. Daventry bike show next Saturday. https://www.daventrybikefest.co.uk/
25. Person in a Nissan Leaf yesterday on the M1 near Rugby, crawling along the inside lane at about 50mph.
