Went to work on it today without any issue, my first commute to work since about November so it's served its purpose of allowing me to ride in less than ideal weather for my other bikes. 3 degrees C and ice this morning would have kept the R1 tucked up in the garage. Had it up to 85mph on the way home and it felt like it was still pulling well. Acres of room under the seat for my rucksack and a laptop.

You have given them fair chance to fix it but you should now demand a refund, get a solicitor involved as suggested. Up the ante and contact MCN and let them stir it up a bit.

It doesn't say anywhere its a 600cc so should surprise a few peeps

The previous owner was an Africa twin fan and put some stickers on the swing.

Bit of a change from my other bikes, I decided to get something that I can use for work and not get stressed about it getting wet ,dirty or racking up a load of miles. So here is my 2003 Honda silverwing. It's 600cc so not a slouch off the mark and will allegedly do 115mph;ill take their word on that. Cruised back down the A14 this afternoon into a very strong headwind at a comfortable 70-75mph. This one is a bit scruffy around the edges, couple of bits of the plastic are damaged but nothing that cant be replaced. A strange experience at first with twist and go ,rear brake on the left bar and feet forward riding position but I soon got used to it. Needs a bit of a clean up and check over but will be ready for commuting duty on Monday am.

Not pretentious just dumbass. Me and OH went to a local pub called The Boat at Stockton a few years ago for lunch, during the week and we were the only people in there. Looked at the menu and one of us wanted something off the bar menu the other off the specials board. Went to place our order to be told we would have to sit at different tables because they were off different menus Needless to say we took our business elsewhere. Pretententious was a Rick Stein pub near Padstow, the whole wooden platter nonsense. Food was good though.

So rang them up today expecting a couple of grand to be told I have a fund in the 10s of thousands of pounds Lesson to everyone, check out any long lost pensions you thought you had.

Nice.....how's the M45 these days? Still fairly quiet but the surface ain't so great. I went along there a few weeks ago in the car, dark and raining overtook a truck and went through a deep puddle I couldn't see, car aquaplaned across it which was pretty unpleasant

The best road surface around here is the new Weedon/Flore by pass on the A45 . Race track smooth with a beautiful sweeping bend downhill to a roundabout, straight over into a long open RH curve to an undulating straight about 2 miles long. Wonder how long it will be until that is littered with pot holes?

linuxrob Thanks, the pipes are a little bit fatter than I would ideally like but will do for now. I'm not a great fan of the seamed type of pipe either. Not had a chance to tackle to plating, the main piece I was keen to plate was the front indicator stalks. Impatience got the better of me and I bought new . However I now have all the kit and ready to experiment on the next project

fastbob That's great, many thanks. When its done will have to ride over to Cov to meet up with you.

Got both brackets cut and folded, LH side was much simpler, just need a bit more trimming and welding up and good to go. Both downpipes had to be cut near the head and bent up and now all lines up nicely. Need to fire up the mig welder and tack all in place and return to my fabricator. Managed to pick up a spare engine for the Honda off ebay for £51 It's got the all important chrome points cover and a bonus rear brake pedal, mines ok but not mint. Outbid the other buyer in the last couple of seconds by £1.51 There's an ebay tip, never bid in round numbers.

I think as long as you service it correctly any loss of power will be negligible. You will probably just open the throttle more to compensate without realising. There was a feature in a bike mag or paper some time ago that looked into riders quest for "more power",they put data loggers on a bike maybe an R1 IIRC, and rode it around on the road. They found that they were only using a fraction of its performance and that if you want to go faster just open the throttle more, no need for power commanders, exhausts etc. My R1 is 18 years old with 36k miles and still crazy fast.

Buy a 1975 Suzuki GT380, they have one fitted as std. -
An unusual approach, why not just use a single piece of thick mild steel and then chrome it or even a good piece of ally ? You've obviously thought this out but I'm just curious to know how you arrived at this method. The bracket has two bends in it and I felt this would be difficult to achieve at home in anything thicker. Also folding a small return on it to add stiffness would be tricky.

Snod Blatter & @bbrad93 It's quite a small shop although they are extending into the unit next door,he sells good quality gear aimed at the cafe hipster scene ,don't expect to buy a set of one piece leathers. You can guarantee a warm welcome from the owner Jack and there is a small cafe across the yard doing drinks and snacks. If you are local its worth visiting to support an independent business and as you suggest a good meeting place for a ride out one day. -
It was the 2nd anniversary of the shop opening so went along last night on the 380 for an hour. Mine was the only stinkwheels in crowd of Harleys and cafe style bikes. Not my cup of tea but there was a Boss Hoss with 350ci small block Chevy, bloke I was talking to says the bikes weighs 750kgs Thats as much as 5 RGVs

Chopped the downpipe off the rh exhaust and mated it up to the stainless header and all looks promising.

A couple of months ago I got a letter saying I might be entitled to a pension from my service in the Royal Marines (1967 - 1976 !). I was pretty sure I wasn't entitled to anything, but filled in the application anyway (then forgot all about it). The latest letter tells me I'm entitled to a couple of thousand pounds a year (since my 60th birthday) plus a lump sum of several thousand pounds ! Just as well I'm not looking for a new bike, but I can feel a few more continental trips coming on ..... Nice surprise for you and glad to hear you are going to invest wisely Doubt mine would be anything like that, I worked in a small privately owned Datsun dealership ,was on £30 a week when I started in 80 and on £100 pw when i left in 87, cant imagine my contributions amounted to anything significant.

Had a letter out of the blue from Legal and General tracking me down from a pension I had in my first job from 1980 to 87. Thought it had all been moved to my current provider, but here's hoping there's some money I didn't know about

After a couple of Honda SS50s I had a Suzuki GT250 (95mph when 17 years old and on L plates ) Passed my test and bought a GT380 just before my 18th birthday. First car was a 1966 Mk1 Cortina.
