1. You blast about on the drag bike and yet you come a cropper on some poxy leaves at 50mph. Get well soon
2. The surface isnt too bad now, they redid a particularly bad patch near Wardington, its now race track smooth There is a section between Byfield and Chipping Warden that's as rough as feck so just watch for that.
3. Yes that's about what I remember of it, gutless and crappy brakes I have been riding my 380 around this year and that is much the same but its a pleasure to just trundle along at 50mph and enjoy the scenery Well used to riding a peaky stroker,RGV does nothing up to 9000rpm, then it's all over by 11000 The 361 is a great road but too busy with traffic these days to get a good run, many trucks use it as a short cut from M40 to M1 and there is also a car storage place at Chipping Warden so the road often has car transporters plodding along with a train of cars behind The short section between Dav and Kilsby is equally twisty but often clearer of traffic Bit of trivia, the A361 is the longest 3 digit A road in the UK, goes from Kilsby to Ilfracombe
4. oldgrump , the CL looked in really nice condition must have been quite a rare bike? I last rode the SS in 1999 and wasnt overly impressed with it. Now nearly 20 years on my expectations are different so am looking forward to riding it again.
5. It's a 95 Mk3 Cavalier 3 litre V6 which I did loads of mods to over 10 years. Had it on the rolling road, made 210hp & 290Nm Used to take it to RWYBs at Santa Pod a lot, best time was 14.4 @ 98mph Been off the road since 2014 but can't bear to get rid of it.
6. Sorry to hear that, I know how you feel. In 1992 I had an 18 month old GSXR750M for 3 weeks when that got nicked.
7. Few more bits bolted on this morning, rear brake pedal, rear indicators, tank and seat, then wheeled outside in the sunshine for a pic with the freshly washed R1. The two bikes are a great contrast; R1 will do 70mph in 1st gear the other might do 70 downhill with a following wind while slipstreaming a bus.
8. I'm inspired to give this a go so have ordered one of the voltage/current controller. Got plenty of parts on 3 of my bikes that would benefit from plating.
9. Watched this on the news, good on the police dealing the little sh1theads some harsh justice. We need to get more Judge Dredd on criminals.
10. Give us a shout if you do a gig locally
11. The state pension probably won't exist as we know it in years to come that's why the government is upping the personal contributions everyone makes, going up to 8%of your salary from next April. The company you work for must have a scheme that they will contribute to and you get tax relief from the government, its virtually free money so why wouldn't you take it? Obviously if you are self employed that's not the case, not sure how it works then. Stuffing money under the matress or into a savings account with current interest rates will not grow any faster than inflation and be worth less in 30 years time than today if the rates stay low. I've had a pension since my first job at 16(54 now),then a private scheme now finally a company one that everything is bundled into and its value is going up steadily it can fluctuate depending what the stock market does but the trend is upwards.
12. Things is just saving your salary is that you will (or should have) paid income tax on it. Putting into a private pension you get tax relief on it. My plan is to spread our investments, majority of it is in a private pension, next is building up the equity in our house and downsizing when ready and finally and the most enjoyable is in amassing a bike collection,no tax to pay on them when they are sold.
13. if he thought being locked up away from his family and denied the freedom to enjoy life (riding bikes for one) is a win he must have been deluded
14. So ,plenty of police presence around Rugby but no armed officers or concrete barriers. Maybe Harrogate was a bit OTT.
15. Fitted the footpeg hanger, airfilter, front mudguard, various new bolts and the side cover badges this morning. Jobs this coming week are cleaning up all the foot rests and strip, clean and ultrasonic the carb. Have ordered some new rear shocks, I think I'll end up getting the tank, mudguard and chain guard repainted as they are looking a bit tired compared to all the other freshly painted parts. Still undecided what to do with the exhausts.I can fit some some new replica silencers easy enough but the downpipes are pretty rusty and near on impossible to get at a reasonable cost.Would wrapping them spoil it?
16. Maybe it's a question of using available resources? If they needed say 20 cops to police the market, do they use 20 beat bobbies and leave the swat team at the station eating do-nuts or do you put 10 regular cops and 10 swat on the market and allow the other available 10 cops to go and do some normal policing? Probably use it as a training exercise aswell, keep them on top of their game. We are going to the Rugby Xmas light switch on this afternoon, will see how our police handle it.
17. Don't forget you will get your state pension aswell, around £164 per week from 2019 if you have paid enough years NI contributions. Any income over your personal allowance is also taxable just as if you are still working.
18. Ordered a set
19. Had to put the wheel rebuild on hold, not been able to source any correct size nipples, fnarr .Went back to the place I got the rims from to find they will be at least 2 months.Ah well, no rush So put the wheels back in and stuck the engine in place just to free up some space in the garage.
20. And likewise meeting you too Went to a canalside pub in Braunston on A45, won't be rushing back. Poor table service? They're known for that Service was ok,same couldn't be said about the food.

22. A good turn out this morning,75 or so people attending despite the iffy weather. Caught up with a couple of forum members, spooks & Asbo41 ,good to meet you guys. Didn't get to look around much but saw an Isomoto 125 (I had to Google it) that looked in very good restored condition.
23. One of the guys went on it last year went along A43 to Northampton to A45 and back again.
