  1. Sorry to hear that. I'll just take both feet out of my mouth (or iPad I suppose) now. Apologies, I noticed last night and didn't want you to miss out seeing as many other prolific posters get their own thread. Will mind my own business in future!
  2. Hope you've had a marveloush day!

The forum is an invite only forum for certain Chelsea fans (TBH almost never used now, but it does pick up when we are in Europe as some of us use it to coordinate travel plans etc). Small forum, huge club. Do you get a free plastic blue flag when you join ? We all got given so many of them on champions league nights at the bridge there's no need! Seriously though, I could probably paper my front room with those flags, I've still got so many left. Favourite one was signed by Drogba himself!

I have been banned from two lawyers forums now, simply for telling aspirational law students to not become a lawyer. There may have been some Anglo Saxon words used to describe partners of various law firms though TBH. I am a mod on an official computer game forum though, and it's a mugs game. I also own my own small website with forum and chat room and whatnot but that's just about football, nothing important like bikes...!

I agree with much of what Mark is saying about Corbyn (except the bit about Mao only because I don't know who that is), he puts his foot in his mouth every time he opens it, he's an idealist not a realist who would leave us bankrupt, and I'd never want him as Prime Minister, but I would love a few beers with the guy, he does seem like a genuinely nice bloke, with honourable intentions, and if you saw him congratulate the returning prime minister he also has a great sense of humour. Seems like a lovely guy, just not the right guy for the job, IMO. Isn't he virtually teetotal? So not sure a few beers would go down well... he seems like a substitute geography teacher to me, and I gave up geography aged 12. That said, May was a total cockup by the tories, her coronation was so shockingly a bad idea because she got found out during the campaign as essentially being devoid of personality. I know someone who worked with her once and he reckons she is at the very least a bit autistic. Works well if briefed well but can't think on her feet and utterly dreadful with people. Not always a bad thing - e.g. bill gates is on the spectrum, but combined with everything else, arguably one of the worst political leaders of a mainstream party in my lifetime. She managed to make mad jez look quite good and credible. Hats off for that.
  10. Mate, this is interesting, but I'm reminded of when I was doing my training in a government role, where we had access to a white book called Civil Procedure Rules or something. Pretty much everything was included within ranges in that. Admittedly this was quite a long time ago, but is that still used for general guidance? I know nothing about RTA law, my context was entirely related to individuals suffering personal injury on home office property, but just curious if the variations are at least bracketed by the other forms of civil settlement or if RTA is an entirely different animal...?
  11. Hey guys, Just in case anyone is either based down here or even just visiting, thought I'd mention that I accidentally bumped into a very large group of bikers at McDonalds in Hayle today. Lots of different MCs in attendance and various unaffiliated. They meet up every Tuesday and just chat etc, seems like a nice mix of ages and bikes. Decent crowd and very welcoming. Worth popping your head in, if you're in that area, about 70-90 bikers from what I could see, apparently they start arriving from 6pm or so onwards, obviously more there if the weather is good. Wasn't sure it had been mentioned so thought I'd drop a note to let y'all know.
  12. A man was sent to Hell for his sins. As he was being taken to his place of eternal torment, he saw a lawyer making passionate love to a beautiful woman. "What a ripoff," the man muttered. "I have to roast for all eternity, and that lawyer gets to spend it with a beautiful woman." Jabbing the man with his pitchfork, the escorting Satan snarled, "Who are you to question that woman's punishment?"

How many rallies and speeches of his have you attended? Which politicians did you consider performed well for the media during the election campaign? Do you listen to Women's Hour every day or was this a one-off occasion because of your interest in obtaining information about Labour's policies? So, are you claiming to be an expert on Chinese socialism? Are you categorically stating that Corbyn's political outlook is one and the same as Mao's? Why can't you let it go? You're a Tory, you don't like him - that's fine, none of us have to like everybody. But why the fiction? You can dislike his policies that a staggering number of people find reasonable, you can wish for a neo-liberal leader that the party doesn't want, but why invent stuff? To accuse him of being a disciple of Mao (and thereby a student of planned economies) is drifting off into fantastical nonsense; as any cursory examination of his speeches and plans would attest. I appreciate other political perspectives, I get the fire-poking contributions Six makes, and I believe you're an intelligent and humorous chap - so I don't get why you can't simply stick to facts about why you dislike Corbyn? I'd plump for the beard, my Mum told me never to trust men with beards. (*I have a beard) He ran an outstanding campaign and made some human errors, even the bulk of the PLP have congratulated him and expressed their surprise. My reservation with him comes down to his choice for some of the shadow posts - but then, when your PLP is in open warfare with you and carrying out planned resignations (coordinated by the BBC) I kinda guess you have to take the Diane Abbotts where you find them. FWIW, I cancelled my membership of Labour during the last leadership election after he won. FWIW I joined the Labour Party, specifically to vote for him as I had assumed he would make Labour completely unelectable for the next ten years. No one could have predicted the utterly ourtrageously bad 'campaign' run by May nor how well recieved Corbyn's campaign would be in comparison. Oops!

Sorry mate, but writing off youngsters as clueless and wittering on about social media campaigns does not become you. In the past I've been a dyed in the wool Consrvative but recently have become increasingly disillusioned at the general world outlook from all parties. The youth, as a voting bloc, are a very broad church. Yes I'm sure plenty have been done well by the social media stuff but that isn't necessarily a bad thing as it increases general political awareness and empowers sprogs by educating them through a medium that they themselves use. Cameron had it right when all that stuff on tinder came out. Reach people by using the tools of communication they use rather than expecting everyone to follow the same old. However, we shouldn't underestimate the youth just because they're young. Many don't remember or don't care about the IRA. For many of us it will all remain important but for someone just turning voting age there hasn't been an IRA bomb in their lifetime so it's just history. Like when we look curiously at our grandparents or parents who rant on about the gerrrrmans etc. Corbyn has given them (in my view a catastrophically badly costed) a series of measures which they see as being more fair. These guys don't recall the winter of discontent or miners strikes or having to take cold baths before school because there was no power (yay, Wales in the 70s and early 80s was such fun!) so they don't understand the damage that a properly left wing labour government would wreak upon our economy. Many of the 'youth' are well past university so it's not all about tuition fees. It's about ideology and the concept of fairness. I've been spending some of my spare time with some youngsters recently and they genuinely believe this shite. As Maggie once said, 'the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money'. The concept is fine and in an ideal world, communism would be brilliant, but in today's world we do have to pay the bill at the end of it. What the Consevatives utterly failed to do was reach that audience and say that yes it's fairer for those of us alive today but after Corbyn is dead you and your children and your grandchildren will still be paying for it so ultimately it's probably a bad idea, non? Without actually reaching that audience, who are now more interested in voting than ever before, no party can succeed. Politics has changed dramatically, for the better actually, so governments now need to do a lot more than just protect the NHS and pensions in order to get a majority.

I've stayed well away from most of this but when the choices are between an out and out commie or a robot that just spews out spin thought up by a sixth form debating society is it any wonder that the country was completely divided? Introduce just ONE fecking personality and it would have been a landslide. I've sent a begging email to Ruth Davidson asking her to consider running for Westminster when the inevitable second General Election of 2017 happens in October. I'll even reconsider my current position and actually vote Tory again if Ruth were in charge. In the meantime, my bike and outfit is fittingly orange so I personally have nothing to fear from the DUP but I'm worried about some of you guys with Kermits....

  22. This is my new thing. It's quite amusing TBH, I've not been interested in women for a few years, the moment my work reaches the point where I'm billing 70 hours a week, can barely string a coherent sentence together if it doesn't involve the transaction I'm working on and a master able to get a good 3-4 hours sleep before someone calling me, I amazingly get three (count em) obviously interested women, all of whom are rather compelling in their own way. I'm actually going with the twenty year old, lol. Again, appreciate this is over-sharing but I've not even had a chance to get on the bike in the last fortnight due to work so I'm just kinda shooting the breeze. Going to head out today for a few hours, visiting my fave fishing shop up in Truro and I've booked a day off tomorrow so I can get over to Birmingham on the A roads. Um, oh yeah, booking in my DAS. Not that I don't love my 125 but since the local cops 'reminded' me to put the L plates on, I feel it detracts from the overall image. Anyone done the DAS in either Penzance or Camborne? Not sure which is the nicer test centre...
