  1. I think you have to remember that their biggest market is India. What most people want from a bike there is very different to the average UK rider. Poor roads and bad fuel, mean outright horse power is not so important. This also happily coincides with the A2 market in Europe.

Hard starting could be the valves need adjusting. I have heard of Chinese bikes coming from the factory with them not adjusted correctly. It's not a hard job to do on the GY6 platform.
  3. The Yamaha Dragstar 650 is a great first time cruiser for the wife.
  4. I use press reader. It's a similar sort of thing with hundreds of magazine's and news papers. You can get it free if you are a member of most libraries.
  5. One thing to consider if you do buy it. Is later on if you want to trade it in for something bigger. Most bike shops won't touch it.

The funniest one that springs to mind was when I ploughed a furrow down somebody's front garden. I had just got my 250 and didn't realise I was going about 20 MPH too fast to make a corner. I went straight up their drive hard on the brakes. But locked the front when I hit the grass. They were having breakfast in the kitchen at the time and came rushing out. And didn't seem too concerned about the garden. As long as I was okay. I quickly made my escape.
  7. My scooter went up 12.5% on road tax this year. Still not a lot. But it's starting to add up with that sort of percentage every year.
  8. Seen this quite often. It's very annoying as some parts were shared between models. But these people selling them have no clue. Yamaha Europe do a great part number catalogue. It allows you to search for the original number. But also look at other vehicles in the range. To see if it's a compatible part. https://www.yamaha-motor.eu/gb/en/service-support/parts-catalogue/
  9. I feel real sorry for you. You took every option open to you to track this guy down, before proceeding.
  10. Yes without some documentation saying the vehicle is yours. I imagine they won't cut a key for you.
  11. When the maintenance is measured in hours. It's not going to make a great road bike. Look for one of the last DT 125's.
  12. It's a lovely looking thing.
  13. You've doing an amazing job. Great work.
  14. That's the winner right there.
  15. That's why Yamaha started the GYTR program and others have similar program where you can buy for the track only.
  16. The Kawasaki ninja ZX-R is coming back to the uk as a 2024 model. Not sure how many they might sell though. When Yamaha brought back the newer styled R6, it didn't exactly set the sales charts alight. Nice to see a sports bike brought back from the dead though.
  17. Coming along nicely. You don't need to measure the height of the jets. They just screw in till they are snug. With the mixture screw most just count the turns in from where it is to lightly seated. Probably a bit more accurate than a rule. But a rule would work I guess. Good thinking outside the box. It will probably have a stock setting for the mixture screw in the manual.
  18. If you look up the part in Yamaha Europe's parts catalogue. You can see if it's the same part number. https://www.yamaha-motor.eu/gb/en/services/yamaha-offers-you/parts-catalogue/
  19. If you get the helmet with the blue tooth built in. You don't pay the vat on the communication device. As it's all classed as safety equipment.
  20. Code 19 is the side stand switch. But apparently it can also be the connection between the ignition switch and the ECU. Which uses a separate circuit.
  21. Have actually seen a couple of those for sale over the years in the U.K. Never on the road though. Perhaps it's a guilty secret. like I'm living in Portsmouth.
  22. I have heard bad things about most to be fair. I waited five hours with my mate once for the RAC to turn up. They couldn't fix his bike, so another two hours for a recovery.

    Fuel Filter

Is this the same as yours?
  24. A lot of biosecurity the cat left on are not too loud. But it really depends how friendly your MOT tester is. If it's significantly louder than stock, they can fail it.
