  1. My mate swears by those winter tyres. Just fitted them to his Vespa. Had them on all his old scooters for winter riding. He does live in Wales though. I couldn't be bothered with changing the tyres every six months. But with a spare set of wheels. It would make sense.
  2. The crazy thing is, where my brother lives in Aldershot. It actually costs more a year a year to collect the parking fee, than it brings in. There was a debate about it a few years ago. Can't have free parking. It will bring too many people in. Surely that's what a ghost town needs? These are the same idiots who closed down half the shopping precinct, to refurbish it. Kicking out loads of big name stores. Who have never returned.
  3. Motocross is fantastic at teaching you bike control. It sounds like a fun day. The last time I rode an MX bike was about twenty years ago. I couldn't believe how knackering it was. In our 20's we would ride all day, no problem.
  4. This was the subject of some debate on a recent video. A few people have found a way to get cheaper insurance. Watch from 14 minutes in. If you go for something retro like an old XT600, DR650 something like that. I bet it would be significantly cheaper.
  5. So cute. But you know it's going to get messy.
  6. The finish wasn't the best, with some fasteners rusting. The fuel injection was one of the main criticisms, being quite abrupt. The handling was never the best either. On later models they shortened the forks and changed the internals to make the front end more predictable. All of the criticism is something which you learn to live with for the sound of That fantastic engine. That said they are a cracking bike. They were very much built to a lower price point. Which made them a bit of a bargain to be honest. Just keep on top of the cleaning if you ride all year round.
  7. Slinky Glide cables are supposed to be good for the price.
  8. The Yamaha 650 Dragstar might be worth a look as well.
  9. I would make sure you have a good connection between the spark plug cap, and wire. You can unscrew the cap and cut back 5mm till you have a good fresh wire. Does the plug fit tightly into the cap? It should be hard to pull out. If you have the style cap which fits the screw on plug top cap. Is it tight?
  10. I would say that's past repairing yourself. Either replace it or get it sorted by a specialist.
  11. Good luck on passing your test. It won't take long to get back into the swing of things.
  12. Morning. It's a chilly one. But the pup needs walking. She love going out early.
  13. I had forgotten about that crazy bunch.

    Hi Everyone

Very nice. The old vintage trials scene is going strong.

    Modern stuff

A guy at work got a fine for driving off without paying for petrol a couple of years ago. I wouldn't even think it was his fault. He filled the car up, got a coffee and some snacks. Then went to the counter. Said the pump number, and paid by contactless payment. Then received a fine through the post. It turns out he only paid for the coffee, and snacks. Surely more of an error by the cashier. But what can you do?
  16. I guess the manufacturer decides on certain criteria. Cost must be the main driving force. I remember an article by one of the tyre manufacturers years ago. They were supplying Harley Davidson. The number one thing Harley riders wanted in the US, was high mileage from a tyre. Even if grip and handling suffered as a result!
  17. Make a plan. Just sort it into lots of smaller jobs. It isn't quite so daunting that way. Try to get it on the road for next summer. It would be a great attention getter at bike meets.

    Modern stuff

Are you like my mates mum? She has them stored in her phone. Mr Chip, and Mr Pin. You would have to be a rocket scientist to figure out her crafty plan.

    Modern stuff

What a nice guy. It sounds like the garage owner is a bit of an arse.
  20. Don't worry. It's soon Christmas and all the socialising and hosting of family that brings.
  21. The best thing you can do is chain of to something solid. Otherwise they can just put it into a van. When you chain it to something. Try to use the shortest chain run possible. Or wrap it round the wheel, or frame a few times. If it's left on the floor with slack. It makes it far easier to cut.

    Bad CBT experience

Definitely not a great start. But unfortunately I have heard this before. He should have spent more time with you going through the basics. It was obvious you would need more instruction than the others. Instructors are under more pressure now to fit more training into the CBT. You can understand why some take a short cut. I would probably see if there was another school nearby you could try, like mentioned above. Someone on here also mentioned before about perhaps booking a couple of hours of one to one training on a geared bike before doing the CBT again. Don't let it out you off.
  23. The S22 is more of a sporty tyre. If it was the tyre fitted from the factory. It could be way different to the S22 you buy from a tyre dealer. OEM tyres are always a gamble. And nearly always worse than aftermarket fitment. To be honest that's not bad what you are getting for those sort of bikes at the moment. It would depend on the price difference for me if it was worth the upgrade.
  24. What do you mean?
  25. I never found FS 365 that good to be honest. It seemed to wash off in harsh conditions. Would probably work well if you were cleaning the bike. Then spraying it for the winter. ACF50 is good. But need a bit of work to do right.
